470 - European Championship 2019 - San Remo ITA - Titles go to Australia (open men), Sweden (European men) and France (women)

 470 - European Championship 2019 - San Remo ITA - Titles go to Australia (open men), Sweden (European men) and France (women) Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS were the clear winners of the Medal Race at the 470 European Championship 2019 in San Remo ITA sailed in moderate winds yesterday, confirming their dominance. Dahlberg/Bergstroem SWE on rank 2 overall defended their Championship title as best European team. Snow-Hansen/Willcox NZL finished on the 3rd place. The other European Championship medals went to Xammar/Rodriguez ESP (Silver, rank 4) and Peponnet/Mion FRA (Bronze, rank 5). ---- In the 470 women, Camille Lecointre/Aloise Retornaz FRA grasped the title thanks to winning the Medal Race. Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR with Silver and Zegers/Berkhout NED with Bronze completed the podium. ---- No North Americans in the Medal Races. Stuart McNay/David Hughes USA on 15th in the 470 men and Atlantic and Nora Brugman USA on 30th in the 470 women are the best achievements. ---- All ranking lists and the final report.

 470 - European Championship 2019 - San Remo ITA - Day 5 - no North Americans in Medal Races today Stormy winds exceeding 40kn inhibited additional races in San Remo ITA yesterday and it was decided to conclude the the qualification series after 6 races. Today, the Medal Races of the 10 best per gender fleet will be held. ---- Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS have a solid 7 point lead in the 470 Open ahead of Dahlberg/Bergström SWE on 2nd and best European. Xammar/Rodriguez ESP follow on rank 3. ---- In the 470 women, Hannah Mills/Eilidh MyIntyre GBR are 5 points in front of Lecointre/Retornaz FRA. Mas-Depares/Cantero ESP follow on rank 3. ---- For Stuart McNay/David Hughes USA on 15th in the 470 men, as well as in the women Atlantic and Nora Brugman USA on 30th and Nikole Barnes/Lara Dallman-Weiss USA on 37th, the Championship is over. ---- All ranking lists and the daily news.

470 - European Championship 2019 - San Remo ITA - Day 4, McNay/Hughes USA 15th

After a day with tough conditions, Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS remained on top of the 470 men fleet extending their lead on Dahlberg/Bergström SWE to 7 points. Xammar/Rodriguez ESP are new on rank 3. Stuart McNay/David Hughes USA follow on the 15th place. ---- In the 470 women, Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR reclaimed rank 1 with Lecointre/Retornaz FRA and Mas-Depares/Cantero ESP as first challengers. Both women USA teams slightly improved their rankings: Atlantic and Nora Brugman USA are 30th, Nikole Barnes/Lara Dallman-Weiss USA 37th (including three DNCs and an UFD). ----
The three fleets (gold and silver men and women) had their first race of the day in the late morning in an intial 15kn eastwind increasing to and exceeding 25kn prompting the RC to interrupt racing until 17h in the afternoon. However, the 15-20kn turned again into over 30kn, making it for a challenging race for everyone and causing capsizes and equipment failures, including broken masts for Xammar/Rodriguez ESP, Dahlberg/Bergström SWE or Fahrni/Siegenthaler SUI. ---- All results, the daily news and the video of the day.

 470 - European Championship 2019 - San Remo ITA - Day 3, McNay/Hughes USA 13th Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS finished 2nd in the only race of the day and kept their first place in the 470 men ahead of the race winners Dahlberg/Bergström SWE 2nd passing Bargehr/Mähr AUT now on 3rd. Stuart McNay/David Hughes USA are one down on 13th. ---- In the 470 women, Gil Cohen/Noa Lasry ISR moved on top of the overall rankings with a 2nd race rank. Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR follow now on 2nd 2 points behind. Lecointre/Retornaz FRA are on rank 3. Atlantic and Nora Brugman USA remain on rank 31. Nikole Barnes/Lara Dallman-Weiss USA not competing so far sailed their first race and are now on the penultimate rank 39. ---- The wind at the 470 Europeans on the Mediterranean Sea filled in very late in the afternoon, allowing to start one race only at 17h UTC in an up to 10kn breeze. ---- The ranking lists, the daily news and the video of the day.

 470 - European Championship 2019 - San Remo ITA - Day 2 - no wind for the second day, racing cancelled After a perfect first day at the 470 European Championship in San Remo ITA with three races sailed, a sufficient breeze did not materialise yesterday and therefore the Race Committee decided to abandon racing for the day. ---- Leaders in the interim rankings are the Rio Olympic Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS with 3 bullets in the 470 men, and Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR having won 2 of the 3 races in the 470 women. ---- The ranks of the three North American teams are Stuart Mc/Nay/David Hughes USA 12th and Atlantic and Nora Brugman USA 31st. Nikole Barnes/Lara Dallman-Weiss did not compete. ---- The ranking lists and the daily news. ---- Racing will resume today at 11am UTC and can be followed over live ticker.

 470 - European Championship 2019 - San Remo ITA - Day 1, McNay/Hughes USA 12th Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS have taken the lead in the 470 men/mixed winning all three races of their group (fleet split in two). Bargehr/Mähr AUT and Xammar/Rodriguez ESP follow on the ranks 2 and 3. Stuart Mc/Nay/David Hughes USA are 12th among the 70 teams. ---- In the 470 women, Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR are on rank 1 with two bullets, ahead of Cohen/Lazry ISR and Lecointre/Retornaz FRA on 2nd and 3rd. Atlantic+Nora Brugman USA are 31st, Nikole Barnes/Lara Dallman-Weiss did not compete and are on the last place, rank 40. ---- Top sailing conditions with sun and a 15kn wind prevailed on the Mediterranean Sea off San Remo ITA on the opening day of the 2019 470 Open European Championship. ---- The results and the news of day 1.

 470 - European Championship 2019 - San Remo ITA - first races today with 3 USA teams After Measurement Control and the Practice Race yesterday, the 70 470 men and 41 women teams (with the USA teams Stuart McNay/David Hughes, Nikole Barnes/Lara Dallman-Weiss and Atlantic + Nora Brugman) will sail the first races at the 470 European Championship in San Remo ITA today.  470 - European Championship 2019 - San Remo ITA - Start today, with three USA teams The 470 European Championship will begin in San Remo ITA today with top-quality fleets in both genders. ---- In the 470 men, 75 teams from 4 continents are on the entry list, among others the Olympic Champions Belcher/Ryan AUS, McNay/Hughes USA or Snow-Hansen/Willcox NZL.
