 Nacra 17, 49er, 49erFX - World Championship - Auckland NZL - Final results - Gold for NZL, NED and ITA, 49erFX and Nacra17 Olympic Nations Berths for USA This Sunday morning UTC, two fleet races and the Medal Race concluded the 2019 World Championships of the Olympic 49er, 49erFX and Nacra17 Classes in Auckland NZL. ----- The US Sailing Team grasped two Olympic Nations Berths in the 49ersFX with Paris Henken (Coronado, Calif.) and Anna Tobias Tunnicliffe (Pittsburg, Penn.), rank 9, and in the Nacras17 with Riley Gibbs (Long Beach, Calif.) and Anna Weis (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), rank 14. Congratulations ! ---------- Nevin Snow (San Diego, Calif.) and Dane Wilson (Ojai, Calif.), rank 13, however could unfortunately not carry thru the excellent results of the first races and as fifth nation not-qualified for 2020 Tokyo, the did not make the nations cut by 5 points. The World Sailing Rules stipulate, that "if an allocated quota place is not confirmed by the NOC by the confirmation of quota place deadline (March 15, 2020) or is declined by the NOC, the quota place will be reallocated ... (..) ... within the same event (i.e. 49ers) to the next highestplaced NOC, irrespective of the continent not yet qualified, based on the results of the 2019 World Championships", the last chance for the USA 49er. Erik Heil/Thomas Plössel GER grasped Silver, Dylan Fletcher/Stuart Bithell GBR Bronze. ----- In the 49ersFX, capsizing of the Olympic Champions Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA (photo) decided the title in favour of Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED.  Nacra 17, 49er, 49erFX - World Championship - Auckland NZL - Day 5, Henken/Tobias 49erFX 8th, four more US team ranks 14/15 Paris Henken/Anna Tobias rank 8 in the 49ersFX are the only USA team defending their place in the top-10 with an excellent 1st and 3rd place in the last two races of the day. As 3rd non-qualified nation, they are on a solid track for an 2020 Olympic nations berth (6 places at stake). Nevin Snow/Dane Wilson (49ers) however had their worst day (23/22/21) and dropping on rank 14 as 6th not-yet-qualified nation, they are out of the race for an Olympic nation berth (4 places at stake). On the ranks 15 are Ian Barrows/Mitchell Kiss (49ers), Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea (49ersFX) and Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis (Nacra 17). As 5th nation in the Nacra 17, they have a suffient margin to the 6th place to grasp an 2020 Olympic nations berth. ----- The Results of all North Americans and the latest US Sailing Team Report. -------------------- Here in addition the top results of all three Classes: ----- The Olympic, America's Cup and World Champions Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL have taken the lead in the 49ers. On rank 4 follow Botin/Lopez ESP as best of the nations not yet qualified for the 2020 Olympics (blue shade on ranking lists). 4 places are at stake. ----- In the 49erFX, Annemiek Bekkering/Anette Duetz NED replaced Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA tied on top.  Nacra 17, 49er, 49erFX - World Championship - Auckland NZL - Day 4, Olympic Nation Qualification Berths for USA in sight in all three classes The Final Series at the Olympic High-Performance Class Worlds in Auckland began yesterday with three races per class. ----- Racing in the Goldfleet with the top-25 by Class, Nevin Snow/Dane Wilson remain in the top-10 with a 6th place overall in the 49ers. So did Paris Henken/Anna Tobias in the 49ersFX now on rank 10 overall. Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis are on the 14th place in the Nacra 17. All three teams are on 2020 Olympic Nations Qualification Berths for the moment. ----- The Results of all North Americans and the latest US Sailing Team Report. -------------------- Hereafter the top ranked of the three speed classes: ----- Erik Heil/Thomas Plössel GER defended the lead in the 49ers, 9 points ahead of Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL.  Nacra 17, 49er, 49erFX - World Championship - Auckland NZL - Day 3, Snow/Wilson USA excellent 4th in 49ers - 7 USA teams qualified for Goldfleet The High-Performance-Class World Championship Qualification Series in Auckland NZL have been completed this morning UTC with 8, respectively 9 races, and 7 USA teams are qualified for the Goldfleet. ----- Nevin Snow/Dane Wilson delivered again a top performance in the 49ers, bringing them on the excellent rank 4 overall. Paris Henken/Anna Tobias in the 49ersFX as well as Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis in the Nacra 17 could not repeat their top results of Wednesday. Paris Henken/Anna Tobias on first in the women skiffs and Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis on 3rd in the mixed multihulls. Six other USA teams are in the top-20.  Nacra 17, 49er, 49erFX - World Championship - Auckland NZL - Day 1 - only 49ers with two races undeway, Snow/Wilson on 8th best US team i A 25-30kts breeze from the North, swinging to the West with gusts above 70kts prevailed for most of day one of the combined 49er, 49erFX and Nacra17 World Championships in Auckland NZL. Racing was cancelled for the day for the 49erFX and Nacra17, while the 49ers started to their first heat at 3:30 when the breeze settled down to 8-10 kts from offshore. ----- Clear leaders after 2 races are Erik Heil/Thomas Ploessel GER (ranks 1 and 2) ahead of Kevin Fischer/Yann Jauvin FRA (5/1) and Bart Lambrieux/Pim van Vugt NED (3/4). ----- The best North American Nevin Snow/Dane Wilson USA follow on 8th, the America's Cup and Olympic Champions Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL are 11th ----- The 49er results, as well as the Results of all North Americans . ----- For the first time, a public TV station transmits the competition full-length live against a modest fee. ----- The event website.
