World Sailing Annual Conference Sarasota FL, USA Day 4
Yesterday, the deliberation in the various Committee, preparing their recommendations to Council, went on. The focus was on the Equipment-Committee, confirming their proposal made at the 2024 Mid-Year Meeting in May to change a majority of Olympic events as never done in the past. New, an event for single-handed dinghy, double-handed dinghy and kiteboarding for mixed teams each shall be on the program, replacing the 470 and Finn. Comes in addition, that the World Sailing Board proposes an mixed-team offshore event (lasting three days).
There is much opposition and it remains to be seen, whether on Friday, a majority of Council will approve such a drastic change in Olympic sailing.
The daily news.
