Olympic Classes Trofeo Princesa Sofia Palma ESP Day 5 US Sailing Team Medal Race in the Lasers Standard and Radials and the RS:X men windsurfer
Qualified for the Medal Races of today Saturday are: Barnard and Buckingham (Laser Standard), Reineke and Railey (Laser Radial) and Suitt (RS:X Windsurfers). The Final Series of the Trofeo Princesa Sofia were concluded yesterday.

The USA Laser sailors delivered the best performance ever in a top international regatta with Christopher Barnard (Newport Harbour YC) as brilliant leader in the Lasers Standard with a 12-point advantage on rank 2 before the Medal Race. Not far behind follows Charlie Buckingham (Newport Harbour YC) on 5th only 2 points behind the podium.
In the Lasers Radial, Erika Reineke (Lauderdale YC) advanced on rank 2 only 4 points behind the leader and this before the crucial double-point-no-discard Medal Race. Paige Railey (St-Francis YC) is up on rank 7.
Pedro Pascal Suitt USA finished twice on 6th yesterday in the RS:X men windsurfers, and jumped onto the 5th place.

Some other hopefuls did not make it on the final day and terminated the competition yesterday. In the 49ers, Andrew Mollerus/Ian MacDiarmid USA had their worst day (24/15/21) and dropped from 8th to 17th. Paris Henken/Anna Tunnicliffe Tobias USA did not succeed to improve their 11th place in the 49erFX (day ranks 13/16/19) and finished on rank 13 overall. Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis USA starting the day as 12th in the Nacra-17 had all chances to make the cut, finishing 2nd and 3rd yesterday, but a rank 24 downer in the second-last race destroyed all hopes. 12th overall, mere 3 points behind rank 10 is the final outcome. Farrah Hall (St-Francis YC) dropped out of the RS:X women top-10 on Thursday after the second premature start disqualification and terminated the Trofeo on rank 12.

Today Saturday, the Medal Races will be sailed with two US hot contenders for Gold.
