 Finn  European Championship 2019  Athens GRE  Final results, Caleb Paine USA earns Olympic berth 2020, Scott GBR takes the title
Caleb Paine USA, finishing 11th overall, qualifies the USA for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Regatta. The European Champion title goes to Giles Scott GBR. ---- Calms over Athens kept the fleet ashore during the whole day and only 10 minutes before the last start deadline, the sail-off for the ranks 11 to 80 could be started. The Medal Race had to be cancelled and the rankings after the qualification phase became final. Behind Scott adding another title to his palmares, Andy Maloney NZL and Beresz Zsombor HUN earned Silver and Bronze. Juan Cardona ESP is first in the U23 Junior rankings. In the duel for the remaining two 2020 Olympic nation berths - Norway and Brazil were qualified being in the Medal Race fleet - the USA with Caleb Paine and Greece with Ioannis Mitakis were the lucky ones. Switzerland with Nils Theuninck finished the last race on 8th defending rank 11 overall, securing the Olympia berth and also the U23 title. However, disqualified for having been involved in a collision at a mark, the Swiss dropped on the 29th place, and Bronze in the U23 rankings was all that was left. ---- The other North American Finn sailors are on the ranks 12 (Tom Ramshaw CAN), 41 (Luke Muller USA), 46 (Kyle Martin) CAN, 60 (Eric Anderson USA) and 77 (Quinton Gallon CAN).---- The final ranking list, the report and the video of the day.
