Unusual cold and blustery conditions prevailed on Biscayne Bay yesterday at the Miami World Cup Regatta. ----- In the 470 men, the multiple Olympic and World Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS have taken the lead with two race wins. Dahlberg/Bergström SWE and Mantis/Kagialis GRE follow on the ranks 2 and 3. McNay/Hughes USA are up on 7th with a 2nd rank in race 6. Ramsay/Lowden CAN kept the 23rd place, but Guzman/Guzman MEX rank 25, their opponent for the North American Olympic berth, had a black day and are now 14 points behind the Canadians. ----- In the 470 women, Camille Lecointre/Aloise Retornaz FRA won again both heats and are now clearly in front. Skrzypulec/Ogar POL and Mrak/Macarol SLO follow on 2nd and 3rd. Minor changes in the rankings of the three USA teams fighting for the Tokyo Olympic ticket: the young Cowles/Cowles had their worst day but remained 8th and even exended their lead on Brugman/Brugman 10th on 5 points. Another 3 points back follow Barnes/Dallman-Weis as 12th. ----- In the Finns, Caleb Paine USA still controls his challenger Luke Muller USA for the US Olympic ticket with a solid 8 point lead. In the race for the additional North American Olympic berth, Rockall Evans BER, rank 6, is 4 points ahead of Juan Perez Soltero MEX. ----- Erika Reineke USA leads in the Lasers Radial 5 points ahead of Vasileia Karachaliou GRE. Elena Oetling MEX, rank 6, has a solid 17 point lead over Philipine van Aanholt ARU in the fight for the Olympic berth. ----- In the Lasers Standard, Francisco Guaragna ARG moved on top with a 5 point lead on Stefano Peschiera PER new on rank 2. Andrew Lewis TTB on rank 4 extended his lead on Robert Davies CAN in the battle for the 2020 Olympic berth to 6 points. ----- The windsurfers completed three races with Demita Vega de Lille MEX on top of the RS:X women ahead of Farah Hall USA. Nikola Girke CAN, rank 5, is on course to qualify her nation for Tokyo 2020. ----- Pedro Pascual USA on first in the RS:X men was extending his lead on Ignacio Berenguer MEX who is also in the driving seat to qualify his nation for Tokyo 2020. ----- All ranking lists, the daily news and the video of the day.
