The Olympic selection duels for the superior US Sailing Team positions in the 49ersFX and Nacra-17s continued today Thursday morning UTC on Port Phillips Bay AUS with the teams swapping the places again. Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea on rank 7 passed Paris Henken/Anna Tobias - now 4 points behind on rank 10 - who could not repeat their stellar performance of the day before in the lighter winds of the day. ----- Major change also in the Nacra-17 with Sarah Newberry/David Liebenberg 7 ranks up on 10th while Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis had a disaster day loosing 3 places down on 18th with a 36 (!) point deficit on their team mates. ------ In the 49ers, the clearly best team among the four of five USA skiffs sailing in the Goldfleet were again Andrew Mollurus/Ian MacDiarmid on the 13th place overall. (No CAN skiffs in the Goldfleet.) ----- The updated Results of all North Americans. -------------- Hereafter an overview on the top-ranks in all three classes after three races held in light, shifting winds: ----- Three different winners in the Nacra-17 today with Lange/Caranzoli ARG, Majdalani/Bosco ARG and Farese/Zöchling AUT. New on top overall are Nathan and Haylee Outteridge AUS with a considerable 21 point advance on John Gimson/Anna Burnet GBR. Waterhouse/Darmanin AUS moved up on the 3rd place. ----- In the 49ersFX, the tight duel on top went on with Charlotte Dobson/Saskia Tidey GBR one point ahead of Tamara Echegoyen/Paula Barcelo ESP. Schütt/Nielsen DEN on rank 3 are already 21 points back. ----- The 49ers closing the day had a somewhat stronger up to 12kn breeze slackening towards the evening. Still surprising, Benjamin Bildstein/David Hussl AUT replaced the favorites Burling/Tuke NZL on top with a 2 point lead. Botin/Lopez ESP keep a solid 3rd place. ----- The event website. ----- Racing can be followed live as from 3 a.m. UTC or replayed also on www.sailing-new.com, btw an excellent drone-based, well commented coverage.
