IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe Day 29 deviation northwards to avoid storm depression
A storm depression in the south provoked the first half of the fleet to opt for a more northerly course on the Indian Ocean to avoid the worst. ----- Charlie Dalin FRA ('Apivia') remains in the lead 188nm ahead of Louis Burton FRA ('Bureau La Vallée'), sailing the Vendée winning boat of 2016 (François Gabart FRA). For 2 days now, he has been handicapped by a defective autopilot and the windy conditions have prevented him from making repairs so far. ----- Thomas Ruyant FRA ('LinkedOut') follows closely 10nm behind. ----- Damien Séguin FRA ('Groupe Apicil'), still the first non-foiler, moved up to 4th with a 300nm backlog. ----- The best-ranked woman Isabelle Joschke FRA/GER ('MACSF') follows in 9th place 606nm back. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
