 Melges 24 - World Championship 2016 - Miami FL, USA - Final results The Melges 24 World Championship in Miami was concluded yesterday with two races held in a moderate breeze. Finishing second in the first race of the day, the Irish team of Conor Clarke IRL with Stuart McNay USA steering had a huge advantage excempting them from starting to the last heat. Silver went to Gian-Luca Perego ITA with Carlo Fracassoli ITA as helmsman. The duel for rank 3 ended with Bronze for Brian Porter USA thanks to better race ranks compared with Bruce Ayres USA at equal points.

 Melges 24 - World Championship 2016 - Miami FL, USA - Day 3 Three races were held on day 3 of the Melges 24 Worlds in Miami, for the first time in lighter winds. No change on top, as the leading Connor Clarke IRL with Stuart McNay USA steering were again the best of the day with the ranks 2/1/2, extending their overall lead on 25 points. The title will no doubt be theirs with three races to go. Gianluca Perego ITA with Carlo Fracassoli ITA as helmsman keeps rank 2 with an 8 points' advantage on Bora Gulari USA on 3rd. Today Friday, only one race is on the program. Saturday will be the final day with two heats.

 Melges 24 - World Championship 2016 - Miami FL, USA - Day 2 Day 2 of the Melges 24 Worlds on Biscayne Bay was spectacular with a 20 kn wind and again big waves.
Finishing 6/1/1, Brian Porter USA was the best of the day and advanced on rank 5 overall. No change on top where the Irish team of Conor Clarke IRL with Stuart McNay USA steering defended their place with the ranks 3/4/5 extending the lead on Carlo Fracassoli ITA to 8 points. New on rank 3 follows Tim Healy USA.

 Melges 24 - World Championship 2016 - Miami FL, USA - Day 1 The Melges 24 World Championship in Miami began yesterday with three races sailed in an 18-20 kn wind and big waves creating challenging sailing conditions. Finishing 2/1/1, Connor Clarke IRL and his team (helmsman the 470 Olympian Stuart McNay USA) has taken the lead ahead of the double Moth World Champion and Nacra-18 Olympian Bora Gulari USA (tactician Jonathan McKee USA). Gian-Luca Perego ITA and his team are 3rd. The day was not successful for the defending World Champion Chris Rast SUI on rank 15 for the moment. Here his video comment. The ranking list and the news.

 Melges 24 - World Championship 2016 - Miami FL, USA - first races today The Melges 24 World Championship 2016 in Miami begins today with the first races. Exellent conditions prevailed on Biscayne Bay with a 20 kn Easterly and big waves during the Practice Race yesterday. Here a video interview with the defending champion Chris Rast SUI. The first start will be given at 14.30h UTC. Racing can be followed live by GPS-tracking.

 Melges 24 - World Championship 2016 - Miami FL, USA The Melges 24 World Championship begins today in Miami with the Practice Race. 73 teams from 14 nations are on the entry list, a remarkable fleet including 20 Corinthian team. The defending champion Chris Rast SUI and his team will be challenged by the very strong North American armada not present a year ago in Denmark. According to the wind forecast, racing will begin tomorrow in a 15 kn breeze, decreasing during the week on about 10 kn, before a fresher wind will be back for the final. Very tight racing among the high-quality teams on boats with little speed differences may be expected.
