Star - Star Sailors League - Finals - Nassau BAH - Victory for Paul Goodison GBR/Frithjof Kleen GER

 Star - Star Sailors League - Finals - Nassau BAH - Victory for Paul Goodison GBR/Frithjof Kleen GER The 2017 Star Sailors League Final was sailed yesterday in a 16 to 18kn wind in Bahamas. Eliminated in the Quarter Final were Bruni/Colannino ITA, Negri/Lambertenghi ITA and Saxton/Mitchell GBR. In the Semi Final, Cayard/Trinter USA, Kusznierewicz/Zycki POL and Buhl/Koy GER were forced to leave the competition. In a nail-biting finish, Paul Goodison GBR/Frithjof Kleen GER defeated Robert Scheidt/Henry Boening BRA with the last wave on the finish line. Not far behind followed last year's winners Mark Mendelblatt/Brian Fatih USA. Xavier Rohart/Pierre-Alexis Ponsot FRA finished on rank 4.

 Star - Star Sailors League 2017 - Finals - Nassau BAH - Day 4 The Qualification Phase at the Star Sailors' League Final in Nassau BAH was concluded yesterday with 3 races and the best 10 teams will continue the competition in the Quarter Finals. The dominant winner after 11 races sailed - Mark Mendelblatt/Brian Fatih USA - are already qualified for the Final of the 4 best. Robert Scheidt/Henry Boening BRA on rank 2 will go directly to the Semi Final. The ranks 3 to 10 will sail the one-race Quarter Final with the best five qualifying for the Semi Final. Three invited VIP helmsmen (non Starboat sailors) will sail in the next Round today: the 2008 Laser Olympic Champions Paul Goodison GBR, the current Laser World Ranking leader Philipp Buhl GER and the Nacra-17 World Champion Ben Saxton GBR.

 Star - Star Sailors League - Finals - Nassau BAH - Day 3 Very light wind - 4-6kn -made yesterday very challenging for the 25 teams competing in the SSL Finals Nassau BAH. The Italians were on fire with Francesco Bruni/Colannino ITA (ranks 4 and 1) and Diego Negri/Sergio Lambertenghi ITA (3/3) in these light conditions. Meanwhile Mark Mendleblatt/Brian Fatih maintained their consistency with a 1, 2 taking over the lead in the qualification series while Robert Scheidt/Henry Böhning BRA slipped to second place with scores of 2 and 19 after a disastrous 2nd upwind mark rounding. Philipp Buhl/Markus Koy GER on rank 5 are the best invited VIP team, and with a 21pts advantage on rank 11, the have excellent chances to make the cut for the next round in the three races planned for today (livestream on this website beginning at 15h UTC). Fighting for a qualification are the teams on the ranks 12-14 with the three past World Champions Kusznierewicz/Zycki POL, Melleby/Revkin NOR and Szabo/Natucci USA. The offshore champions and round-the-globe champion Franck Cammas/Mark Strube FRA, improving his Starboat skills from race to race, is now on rank 16 overall. The forecast for today is for 13-15kn from the south southeast with a fairly flat seaway.

 In light winds around 7 to 9kn, four races were sailed yesterday. With the ranks 1/2/20/1, Paul Cayard USA (Star World Champion 1988)/Phil Trinter USA (Star World Champion 1993) were the team of the day, moving up on rank 3 overall. Here the report of Paul Cayard USA. Robert Scheidt/Henry Boening BRA defended their overall lead with a constant row of top-10 ranks, but Mark Mendelblatt/Brian Fatih USA are only 2 points behind on 2nd. Paul Goodison GBR/Frithjof Kleen GER on rank 5 remain the best invited VIP team. Thanks to a race win, Philipp Buhl/Markus Koy GER advanced on rank 6. Three more qualification races are on the program today, to be followed live on this website at 16h UTC.

 Star - Star Sailors League 2017 - Finals - Nassau BAH - Day 1 A moderate seabreeze around 12kn did set a perfect stage on the opening day of the SSL Final on the Bahamas. The two races of the day were dominated by the experienced Starboat teams: Robert Scheidt/Henry Boening BRA took the interim's lead with the ranks 2 and 3. Mateusz Kusznierewicz/Dominik Zycki POL (4/2) and last year's winners Mark Mendelblatt/Brian Fatih USA (1/6) followed on the rank 2 and 3. The first of the invited 'VIP' helmsmen is Paul Goodison GBR - Laser Olympic Champion and double Moth World Champion - together with Frithjof Kleen GER as crew on rank 4. Rather difficult was the day for the offshore specialists Loïck Peyron FRA snd Frank Cammas FRA on the ranks 24 and 25.

 Star - Star Sailors League - Finals - Nassau BAH - Start today Today is day one of the Star Sailors League Final 2017 in Nassau on the Bahamas, the best cast sailing regatta of the year. In addition to the best Starboat specialists such as the former Worldchampions Xavier Rohart FRA, Augie Diaz USA, Torben and Lars Grael BRA, Hamish Pepper NZL, George Szabo USA or Eivind Melleby NOR, prominent athletes from other Olymic Classes, the America's Cuip and Offshore Racing such as Paul Goodison GBR, Loïck Peyron FRA, Franck Cammas FRA or Philippe Buhl GER and more will participate.

Star - Star Sailors League - Nassau BAH - The Final, an all-star event !

 Star - Star Sailors League - Nassau BAH - The Final, an all-star event ! Next Monday, the Star Sailors League Final will begin in Naussau on the Bahamas, a regatta with superlatives ! Olympic medalists (25 Medals in total, including 9 Gold Medals), America's Cup winners, round-the-world record holders and multiple World Champions from various classes compete for the 200'000 US$ price money. 9 of the 10 top Star-Ranking-List teams and 16 invited teams will be at the start. This year again, the competition will be fully covered live with the latest presentation technology and competent commentators, available also in the livestream window of this website.

 Star - Star Sailors League - Finals - Nassau BAH - the participants The Star Sailors League Final in Nassau BAH - again the best-attended sail race of the 2017 season with the top-10 of the Star ranking list challenged by top helmsmen from various Olympic classes, the America's Cup and the offshore scene - will begin in two weeks from now. New names on the Bahamas among others are this time Hamish Pepper NZL, Star World Champion and Team NZL America's Cupper, Francesco Bruni ITA, Starboat Champion and well-known big-boat tactician, the offshore and America's Cup crack Loïc Peyron FRA (with the Bronze Olympian Pascal Rambeau FRA) in a video-Interview after his first Star training on Lake Garda, and another premiere by the famous offshore record man Franck Cammas FRA.
