420 & 470 - Junior World Championship 2018 - Sesimbra POR - Final results

 420 & 470 - Junior World Championship 2018 - Sesimbra POR - Final results The European Championships in Portugal ended yesterday with the Medal Races of the 470s and two final races for the 420s. The winds remained moderate with 8-10kn. There were no changes on the podium of the 420: Martin Wizner / Pedro Ameneiro ESP took the title ahead of Enzo Balanger / Gaulthir Tallieu FRA. Pablo Ruiz / Miguel Martinez ESP took bronze. Clara Olive / Solenza Mariani FRA finished 4th overall and thus won the women's title. In the U17 classification, Cole Tapper / Tylor Ceevey AUS won in ahead of Jacopo Garcia / Antoni Ripoll ESP, Jakub Golebiowski / Filip Szmit POL took bronze.
Theres Dahnke / Birte Winkel GER took gold in the 470 women. Victory in the Medal Race put Yahel Wallach / Omer Bilia ISR in second place, followed by Paola Amar / Marine Riou FRA in third. There were no changes in the 470 men: Maor Abu / Yoav Rooz ISR were already confirmed as winners before the medal race, Balazs and Zsombor Gyapjas HUN took silver and Nitai Hasson / Tal Harari ISR were 3 rd.

420 & 470 Junior European Championship - Sesimbra POR - Day 5 - First preliminary decisions

 420 & 470 Junior European Championship - Sesimbra POR - Day 5 - First preliminary decisions On the penultimate day of the European Junior Championships, there was again fog in the morning and light winds of around 8kn in the afternoon. The 470s completed their qualification for today's Medal Races. First preliminary decisions have been made: With 25 points ahead, Maor Abu / Yoav Rooz ISR can no longer be overtaken by the 470 men. Balazs and Zsombor Gyapias HUN and Nitai Hasson / Tal Harari ISR, who are just three points behind, will make out silver and bronze between themselves. In the 470 women Theres Dahnke / Birte Winkel GER go into the medal race 17 points clear of second place. They are unlikely to loose their gold medal today. The ranks 2-5, however, are only 8 points apart: Currently Luise and Helena Wanser GER hold rank 2, five points ahead of Marine Lefort / Lara Granier FRA on rank 3.
The 420s will sail two more races on today's final day. Martin Wizner / Pedro Ameneiro ESP go inti the final day with a 12 points lead on Enzo Balanger / Gaultier Tallieu FRA. Third is Pablo Ruiz / Miguel Martinez ESP. After their best day in the series Clara Olive / Solenza Mariani FRA moved up to fifth place and will clearly win the women's classification. Paraskevi / Papadopoulos GRE, the second-best women's team are already 53 points behind. In the U17 classification of the 420, Cole Tapper / Tyler Creevy AUS extended their lead to 8 points. Ryan Littlechild / Jack Ferguson AUS are still in second place. The daily best yesterday, Jakub Golebiowski / Filip Szmit POL, moved up to 3rd overall.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2018 - Sesimbra POR - Day 4 A thick fog in the morning and a weakened Seabreeze (10-12kn) in the afternoon marked the 4th day of the Junior European Championship in Portugal. All classes were able to complete two races each. The 420s sailed their first finals in the Gold- and Silverfleet. Enzo Balanger / Gaultier Tallieu FRA took the lead with the daily ranks 3 and 4, Martin Wizner / Pedro Ameneiro ESP are now 2nd, 2 points behind. Niamh Harper / Ross Thompson GBR remained third, 19 points behind. Clara Olive / Solenza Mariani FRA are 14th overall and are leading in the women's ranking. In the U17 fleet of the 420, the Australians have taken the command: Cole Tapper / Tyler Creevy AUS are leading, 5 points ahead of Ryan Littlechild / Jack Ferguson AUS. Already 15 points behind follow Oliver Hurwitz / Ethan Froelich USA on rank 3. Theres Dahnke / Birte Winkel GER extended their lead to 16 points in the women's 470, while Yahel Wallach / Omer Bilia ISR moved up to second place. Luise and Helena Wanser GER and Paola Amar / Marine Riou FRA are tied on points in 3rd and 4th overall. In the men's 470s Maor Abu / Yoav Rooz ISR are now 10 points clear of Nitai Hasson / Tal Hariri ISR. Balazs and Zsombor Gyapias HUN remain 3rd.  420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2018 - Sesimbra POR - Day 3 Yesterday, the Seabreeze on the Portuguese Atlantic coast set in later and slightly weaker than usual. Nevertheless two races could be sailed in each of the 4 classes , which completes the qualification for the Gold- and Silverfleet for the 420s. Still at the top of the 420s are Martin Vizner / Pedro Ameneiro ESP and Enzo Balanger / Gaultier Tallieu FRA, Niam Harper / Ross Thompson GBR is 3 rd, 4 points behind, Florian and Maximilian Büscher GER are now 4 th. Jakup Golebiowski / Filip Szmit POL and Jacobo Garcia / Antoni Ripoll ESP are the leaders of the U17 classification in the 420, followed by Cole Tapper / Tyler Creevy AUS 4 points behind in 3rd place.
There were no changes on the podium in the men's 470: Maor Abu / Yoav Rooz ISR are now 9 points ahead of Nitai Hasson / Tal Harari ISR. Balasz and Zsombor Gyapjas HUN are still third, a further 3 points back. Theres Dahnke / Birte Winkel GER continue to lead the women's 470, 4 points ahead of Luise and Helena Wanser GER , Paola Amar / Marine Riou FRA follow on rank 3.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2018 - Sesimbra POR - Day 1 In perfect conditions with sunshine and 14-20knots of wind the Junior World Championships of the 420 and 470 started yesterday with two races each. The 97 boats’ fleet of the 420 is split into 2 groups. With two wins, Martin Vizner / Pedro Amendeira ESP took the lead, Niamh Harper / Ross Thompson GBR and Florian and Maximilian Büscher GER follow tied in second 2 points behind. The best women's team are Zofia Korsak / Karolina Cendrowska POL in ninth place. In the U17 ranking of the 420s, Jacopo Garcia / Antoni Ripoll ESP lead one point ahead of Oliver Hurwitz / Ethan Froelich USA. Third is Nikolaus Clodi / Vincent Wenger AUT.
In the 470 women Theresa Löffler / Lena Stückl GER lead the ranking with 3 points ahead of Paola Amar / Marine Riou FRA, Luise and Helena Wanser GER follow in third place. There is an Israeli double lead in the 470 men; Nitai Hasson / Tal Harari ISR lead 3 points ahead of Maor Abu / Yoav Rooz ISR. Third is Balazs and Zsombor Gyapjas HUN.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2018 - Sesimbra POR - First races today Today the Junior World Championships of the 420s and 470s start in Sesimbra POR (south of Lisbon). In the 420s, 98 teams from 19 nations, including three US teams will compete. The U17-420s will sail in their own fleet. On the entry list are 44 teams from 16 nations.
In the 470s there are 19 women's and 37 men's teams. All Entry Lists and the official preview.
