IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe 2016/17 Day 26
With the wind shifting to southwest on the South-Indian Ocean, Alex Thompson GBR is again on the 'fast tack' with the intact foil appendage. On optimum speed again, he left Armel Le Cléac'h FRA 15 nm behind during the past 24 hours. In roughly two days, both will pass Cape Leeuwin at the southwest point of Australia. 600 nm behind sails the 3rd-ranked Sébastien Josse FRA. Thanks to the fresh winds, the bulk of the fleet is now also in the approach to Cape of Good Hope that has been reached by only 10 of the 25 boats still in the race so far. Alan Roura SUI has been overtaken by Enda O'Coineen IRL and is now 22nd.
