80th edition Bol d'Or Geneva Start tomorrow
Tomorrow the 80th edition of the Bold d'or will be held on Lake Geneva. More than 500 teams will take part in this 66 mile race around the lake. Both on land and on the water there will be lots of entertainment on offer. Among others, the currently running Jazz Festival Montreux will provide for the musical entertainment on the spectator vessel. In Geneva there is a large event photo exhibition along the quays of the lake promenade.
On the water, the competition is as fierce as ever; again many of the newly constructed Foilers are at the start. However, the wind forecasts are light, it will remain to be seen whether the Foilers will be able to fly. In the big catamarans, freshly crowned GC32 world champion Sébastien Schneiter SUI will be meeting the Lake Geneva D35 catamarans. In these conditions the lightweight catamaran Ventilo M1 'Safran' will also be in with a shout for the victory as are the local M2 catamarans. Among the single-hullers it will remain to be seen whether the foiling quants or 'Gonet' by Eric Monnin YCI will encounter enough wind to foil. The
Entry list and the official preview.
