 Olympic Classes  2021 US Open Sailing Series  Miami Olympic Classes Regatta  Final results
The 2021 Miami Olympic Classes Regatta on Biscayne Bay was concluded yesterday with light-wind early morning races. ----- First out, the 470s sailed two races, both won by Stu McNay (Providence, R.I.) / Dave Hughes (Ithaca, N.Y.), finishing the series with 8 bullets in 11 heats with a 13-point margin. Mixed teams Louisa Nordstrom (Osprey, Fla.) / Trevor Bornarth (Stuart, Fla.) followed in second, Michelle Lahrkamp (Rye, N.Y.) / Jack Parkin (Riverside, Conn.) placed third. ----- On top in 9 of the 11 races this week, Nevin Snow (San Diego, Calif.) / Dane Wilson (Ojai, Calif.) sustained their lead on Sunday, winning the 49er fleet by seven points. Ian Barrows (St. Thomas, USVI) / Hans Henken (Coronado, Calif.) finished second overall, followed by Christopher Williford (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) / Duncan Williford (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) in 3rd. ----- In the 49ersFX, Stephan Baker (Miami, Fla.) / Nicholas Hardy (Newton, Mass.) extended their lead on Lucy Wilmot (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) / Erika Reineke (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) to seven points. Bella Casaretto (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) / Jana Laurendeau (Billerica, Mass.) made the podium in third place. The Olympians Stephanie Roble / Maggie Shea tested the fleet with top finishes in three races on Saturday only. ----- The Nacra 17 and iQFoil starts had to be canceled in the dying winds. ----- The Nacra 17 results through Saturday were final with Samuel Albrecht / Gabriela Nicolino of Brazil capturing the first. Ravi Parent (Bradenton, Fla.) / David Liebenberg (Richmond, Calif.) finished in second as the top American team, ahead of Riley Gibbs (Long Beach, Calif.) / Anna Weis (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) in third. ----- The two iQFoil fleets completed just one race each this week on Friday with Mateus Isaac BRA on top of the Men’s fleet (9-meter sail) and Garrett January (Pinellas, Fla.) winning the 8-meter sail race. Farrah Hall (Annapolis, Md.) placed third overall in the 8-meter race was the top women’s sailor. ----- All results and the US Sailing Report. ------------- The next US Open Sailing Series event for the Laser, Radial, Nacra 17, Nacra 15, 49er, 49er FX, 49er FX Mixed, 29er, iQFoil, Open Windsurf Foil, Formula Kite fleets will take place February 4 to 7 in Clearwater Fl.
