Considered by World Sailing 'the pinnacle of elite racing', this Regatta was not only a non-event considering the participation, but even more a flop considering the media work ... no reports, no photos, no videos .. not to mention a real-time GPS positioning or livestream !
As expected, the Rio Olympic Silver Medalist Tonci Stipanovic CRO was the winner in the Lasers Standard, and Dongshuang Zhang CHN was the superior first in the Lasers Radial. The two Laser fleets were the only ones with a certain international participation.

Light winds prevailed again at the Qingdao CHN Worldcup event and two races have been completed.
The situation in the Lasers Standard remains open as the leading Tonci Stipanovic CRO is only one point ahead of Giovanni Coccoluto ITA. Lorenzo Chiavari GBR on 3rd remains tied with Pavlos Kontides CYP. No change in the Lasers Radial, where Dongshuang Zhang CHN extended her lead on Monika Mikkola FIN with another two race wins.

Act 5 of the WS Olympic Classes Worldcup 2016 began yesterday on the Olympic waters of of Qingdao CHN. All classes sailed two races in a 8 to 10 kn breeze.
Finishing 1 and 3, the Olympic Silver medalist Tonci Stipanovic CRO has taken the lead in the Lasers Standard ahead of Lorenzo Chiavarini ITA and Finn Lynch IRL. Dongshuang Zhang CHN won both heats in the Lasers Radial, followed by Rubei Yuan CHN and Monika Mikkola FIN. International is the participation also in the 470 men where Hao Lang/Chao Wang CHN are on the first interim's place. Only 6 Finns are racing with Lei Gong CHN as leader. The RS:X windsurfers have Lee Chunzhuang CHN on first in the men's category, and Hongmai Shi CHN in the women's rankings.
