49er, 49erFX - World Championship 2024 - Lanzarote ESP - Final results

The Olympic Skiff World Championship came to an end yesterday with a final qualification regatta and the Medal Races. After a windy week, there were moderate winds of around 12 knots at the end. ----- The order on the podium did not change: Erwan Fischer/Clément Péquin FRA in the 49ers were outstanding and were already crowned the new world champions before the medal race after another race win. Bart Lambriex/Floris Van de Werken NED took silver. Diego Boton/Florian Trittel ESP finished 3rd, while Sébastien Schneiter/Arno de Planta improved to 6th place with a 3rd place in the Medal Race. Joshua Richner/Nilo Schärer SUI finished the World Championships in 46th place of the 70 teams - the 49er ranking. ----- In the women's event, Odile Van Aanholt/Annette Duetz NED regained the World Championship title, which they lost to Vilma Bobeck/Rebecca Netzler SWE last year. The Swedes finished 2nd, with bronze going to Jana Germani/Giorgia Bertuzzi ITA. Two-time Olympic champions Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA finished 4th - the 49erFX ranking . The final report.

49er, 49erFX - World Championship 2024 - Lanzarote ESP - Day 5

In the windiest conditions so far with around 20 knots and big waves, the qualifications for the Medal Races continued yesterday. Today, there is one last qualification regatta and the Medal Race on the program. ----- In the 49ers, Erwan Fischer/Clément Péquin FRA can already grasp the World Championship title before the Medal Race. After yesterday's races, they already have a 30-point lead over the second-placed title defenders Bart Lambriex/Floris Van de Werken NED - it would be the first French World Championship victory in the history of the class! 7 points behind the Dutchmen are Diego Botin/Florian Trittel ESP. Sébastien Schneiter/Arno De Planta SUI are now 7th, 27 points behind a medal. Joshua Richner/Nilo Schärer SUI follow in 47th place in the Silverfleet. ----- The 49ersFX also seem to have been decided: The title defenders Odile Van Aanholt/Anette Duetz NED lead by 25 points ahead of Vilma Bobeck/Rebecca Netzler SWE. Challenging conditions with inconsistent offshore winds also characterised the start of the final regattas in Gold and Silverfleet. ----- In the 49ers, Erwan Fischer/Clément Péquin FRA extended their lead to 18 points. Diego Botin/Florian Trittel ESP advanced on 2nd place as the best of the day. Sébastien Schneiter/Arno de Planta SUI, who, like the Spaniards, only arrived from the SailGP in Sydney shortly before the World Championship and are gaining momentum, made a leap to 6th place. ----- Odile Van Aanholt/Annette Duetz NED now lead the 49ersFX by 15 points, ahead of Vilma Bobeck/Rebecca Netzler SWE. The qualifications for the Goldfleet were completed yesterday with three more races in both classes. The defending world champions Vilma Bobeck/Rebacca Netzler SWE in the 49erFX came out on top. Odile Van Aanholt/Anette Duetz NED follow 3 points behind. The Ranking 49erFX. In the 49er, Erwan Fischer/Clément Péquin FRA were again the best of the day and now lead by 11 points ahead of Bart Lambriex/Floris Van de Werken NED. 49er, 49erFX - World Championship 2024 - Lanzarote ESP - Day 2

The second day of the Skiff World Championships on Lanzarote offered moderate, offshore northerly winds. ----- The French teams dominated the 49ers: Erwan Fischer/Clément Péquin FRA took the lead in the overall standings with places 3/1/3 in their group. In the other group, Julien d'Ortoli/Noe Delpech FRA were the best of the day with places 2/1/1, moving up to 5th place. Sébastien Schneiter/Arno de Planta SUI also improved and advanced to 19th place. Joshua Richner/Nilo Schärer SUI are now 38th - the 49ers rankings. ----- The women in the 49ersFX were again only able to sail two races. The title defenders Odile Van Aanholt/Anette Duetz NED moved to the top. The World Championship of the Olympic skiffs began yesterday in 8-15kn offshore northerly winds. The men in the 49er completed 3 races, in the 49erFX two races were sailed. The first leaders in the 49er are Andrew Mollerus/Ian Macdiarmid USA with a one-point lead over the defending champions Bart Lambriex/Floris Van der Linden NED. James Grummett/Rhos Howes GBR follow in 3rd place. Sébastien Schneiter/Arno De Planta SUI started strongly with a 4th place, but then had to accept two disappointing midfield places and are 31st. The junior team Joshua Richner/Nilo Schärer SUI follow in 43rd place of the 71 teams - the ranking list 49er.
