Trophée Jules Verne - Day 16

Tuesday, December 8, 2015
Finally, the Roaring Forties and the Howling Fifties lived up to their reputation as super-highway of the South, and both Maxi-Trimarans accelerated and reduced their backlog on the record substantially.
'Spindrift' with Yann Guichard FRA passed the Kerguelen Islands northwards on the 48th southern parallel and improved their position by 100 miles on a deficit of 267 miles this morning. Even 200 miles were compensated by 'IDEC' (Francis Joyon FRA) on a shortcut way down south on the 55th parallel inmidst the icebergs. They are now 553 miles behind the record and also more in touch with 'Spindrift'.
