Both Maxi-Trimarans kept their high speed yesterday and further reduced the gap on the record. 'Spindrift' (Yann Guichard FRA, Dona Bertarelli SUI) passed the Cape Leeuwin longitude with an 11 hours backlog on 'Banque Populaire', but this morning, they had a 67 miles advanage thanks to a position much more in the South. Even more South is 'IDEC' (Francis Joyon FRA) and their deficit on the record is only 59 miles, and on 'Spindrift' 126 miles. It might well be, that the two giant multihulls will meet for a matchrace on the Pacific Ocean in the days to come.
