Olympic Worldcup 2016 Olympic Classes Regatta Miami FL, USA Day 5
The last fleet races were sailed in difficult lightwind conditions yesterday, and today as from 16 h UTC, the crucial Medal Races will be on the program, transmitted livestream on the www.sailing-news.ch website.
The winners in the 49ersFX are known prematurely, as the leading lexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL have a 30 points' advance on Lisa Ericson/Hanna Klinga SWE. Only one point behind are Jena Mai-Hansen/Katja Salskov DEN fighting for Silver with the Swedes. The situation in the 49ers seems also pretty clear as Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP are 12 points ahead of Jorge Lima/Jose Costa POR, and another 12 points back are John Pink/Stuart Bithell GBR. Sylvan/Anjemark SWE not far behind on 4th could intervene for the Bronze Medal.
Fully open is the situation in the 470 men where the frist three teams are closely together, and whoever is ahead of the others in the Medal Race, will be ahead overall. For the moment, Barreiros/Curbelo ESP is 1 point in front of McNay/Hughes USA, who are 1 point ahead of Mantis/Kagialis GRE. The rest of the fleet led by Schmid/Reichstädter AUT on 4th are out of reach of the podium. A clearer pole position in the 470 women for Lara Vadlau/Jolanta Ogar AUT 4 points ahead of Fernanda Oliveira/Ana-Luiza Barbachan BRA. Sillver and Bronze however will be disputed with Sasha Chen/Haiyan Gao CHN only one point back.
The lead in the Finns has changed again with Jorge Zarif BRA now on first, but Jonas Hoegh-Christensen DEN is only 2 points back, and even Caleb Paine USA 6 points behind has still a chance overall. In the Nacras 17 are Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS on top with Matias Bühler/Nathalie Brugger SUI new on rank 2 6 points back. Mandy Mulder/Coen de Koning NED 6 points behind have also a say when it comes to distrbute the Medals.
15 points is the lead of Dorian Van Rijsselberghe NED in the RS:X men windsurfers and also Byrony SHaw GBR 11 points ahead in the RS:X women windsurfers looks like a safe winner.
