IMOCA Open 60 - Vendée Globe - Day 17
Wednesday, November 25, 2020
The high of St.Helena in the South Atlantic proves to be a big obstacle this year, as sometimes the Open 60s even come to a complete standstill. The top duo, however, was able to continue to break away and has already reached the latitude of Cape of Good Hope. The leading 'Apivia' with Charlie Dalin FRA at speeds around 10kn is somewhat faster than 'LinkedOut' with Thomas Ruyant FRA with only 6kn. The distance between the two was 82nm this morning UTC. Only on Friday, the leading boats will reach the west wind belt of the Roaring Forties. Jean Le Cam FRA ('Yes we Cam', Non-Foiler) is still in 3rd place already 362nm behind. Boris Herrmann GER ('SeaExplorer', Foiler) follows in 6th position with 442nm backlog. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
