Wednesday, November 25, 2020
This morning, two French maxi-trimarans started for the "Trophée Jules Verne" Round-the-World absolute record attempt, at 2.55h CET 'Sodebo', and at 3.26h CET 'Gitana'! The ideal weather conditions should allow a record-fast reaching of the equator in less than 5 days. A low pressure area off the coast of Brazil should then bring the two teams to the southern point of Africa in less than 12 days without major detours. - Another offshore spectacle is on the horizon! ----- This morning UTC, 'Sodebo' with Thomas Coville FRA and his 7-man team was already 43nm ahead of the existing record set by Francis Joyon FRA ('IDEC') - The race tracker and the Sodebo website. ----- 'Gitana' with Franck Cammas FRA and Charles Caudrelier FRA had a 43nm lead on the record as well. The Gitana website. ----- The video of the start.
