IMOCA Open 60, Class 40, Ultime, Ocean50 Transat Jacques Vabre Day 4
While the multihulls have finally found fresher winds off the coast of Portugal - the Ultime trimarans are now reaching 24-hour distances of over 300 miles - the Class 40s continue to pile up at Cap Finisterre. ----- The Ultime have advanced as far south as Madeira, but are still slowed by a flat zone to the west. 'Banque Edmond de Rothschild' with Franck Cammas/Charles Caudrelier FRA leads by 31 miles this morning over 'SVR Lazartique' with François Gabart/Tom Laperche FRA. ----- The Ocean Fifty trimarans also made good progress yesterday, with Erwan Le Roux/Xavier Macaire FRA still leading with now 31 miles to go. ----- The Open 60s are heading south along the Portuguese coast in good conditions. 'Apivia' with Charlie Dalin/Paul Meilhat FRA are still leading over 'LinkedOut' (Thomas Ruyant/Morgan Lagravière FRA) 20 miles back this morning. ----- Still trapped in the doldrums off Cape Finisterre is the large Class 40 fleet: some have not even covered 50 miles in the past 24 hours. Nicolas Jossier/Alexis Loison FRA are still in the lead, 20 miles ahead. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
