IMOCA, Class 40, Multi 50, Ultime - Route du Rhum - St.Malo FRA - Day 5

The Ultime trimarans were the first to reach the trade winds yesterday. Charles Caudrelier FRA (Edmond de Rothschild) and 41 miles behind François Gabart FRA (SVR-Lazartigue) are fighting a close duel at high speeds over 30kn (55km/h), Thomas Coville FRA is now 118 miles back in 3rd. The Ultime have already covered half the distance and are expected to finish on Wednesday. In the Ocean 50 trimarans, Eric Peron FRA is the only one to have chosen a southerly option and is already 220 miles back in 5th....but he will be the first to reach the trade winds. In the Open 60 the Charlie Dalin show continues, he extended his lead to 74 miles. Jérémy Beyou FRA (Charal) and Thomas Ruyant FRA (LinkedOut) remain the first chasers. Strong still Justine Mettraux SUI (TeamWork), who follows in 7th place, 126 miles behind, just 50 miles behind 2nd ! Alan Roura SUI (Hublot) is now 18th. In Class 40 Yoann Richomme FRA (Paprec-Arkea) has taken the lead after an impressive recovery, he had to accept a 4-hour time penalty for starting to early. One mile behind, Corentin Douget FRA (Innoveo) is now 2nd. Simon Koster SUI (Banque du Léman) is also holding on to the lead group, 23 miles behind he is now 6th. The race tracker and the reports.
