IMOCA Open 60, VOR 65 - The Ocean Race - Alicante ESP - Start at 14h CET

Today at 14h CET, the six VO65 teams start their Ocean Race (a short version), and one hour later, it's the turn of the IMOCA Open 60 who sail for the first time fully crewed around the globe. The first short leg leads over 1700 miles to Cabo Verde. The exit from the Mediterranean Sea will bring light winds at first, but through the Strait of Gibraltar, they will probably have to sail upwind in 30 knots+. On the Atlantic, fresh rear trade winds will ensure a fast trip to the Cape Verde Islands, arrival probably on Thursday. As always, check out the race tracker, and all the latest news.
