IMOCA Open 60, VO65 - The Ocean Race - Alicante ESP - Day 1

With moderate winds, the start of the Ocean Race 2023 took place yesterday in Alicante. This morning, the fleet is sailing close to the southern Spanish coast and will have to tack this morning in the fresh westerly winds that are currently whistling through the Strait of Gibraltar. The two fleets are still close together. Boris Herrmann GER with his 'Malizia' leads the field of the Oen 60, the favoured '11th hour' with Charlie Enright USA and Justine Mettraux SUI follows with 0,4 miles behind in 3rd position. The fleet of the VO65 is led by 'WindWhisper Racing Team' (POL) with Pablo Arrarte ESP at the helm, 3 miles behind follows 'Miripuri Foundation' with Antonio Fontes POR.
