49er, 49erFX - European Championship - La Grande Motte FRA - Day 2

Three races were held in fresh, shifty winds on day 2 of the European Championships in the South of France. ----- The English continue to dominate in the 49ers: James Grummett/Rhos Hawes GBR are now on top - these newcomers have only been sailing together for 6 months and already finished 4th at the World Championships in April! - However, James Peters/Fynn Sterritt GBR, already selected for the British Olympic team, are tied in second place. Isaac McHardie/William McKenzie NZL follow in 3rd place, 11 points behind. Sébastien Schneiter/Arno De Planta SUI have moved up to 5th place with a strong day (6/2/4). The qualifications for Gold and Silverfleet will be finalized today. Joshua Richner/Nilo Schärer SUI in 32nd place still have 25 points to make up for the Goldfleet. Pablo Rüegge/Linus Abicht SUI are 55th of the 76 teams - the 49ers rankings. ----- The 49ers could only sail one race with Jana Germani/Giorgia Bertuzzi ITA as winners. They were nevertheless displaced on rank one by Aleksandra Melzacka/Sandra Jankowiak POL, who are equal on points ... thanks to the discard that has now come into effect.
