 420 - World Championship 2017 - Fremantle AUS - Final results - Gold for Spain and Australia The 420 World Championship 2017 in West Australia was concluded yesterday with two races sailed in somewhat lighter winds.
The 420 Open (Boys) fleet podium is all-Spanish. The leading Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP dropped on rank 3 after a premature start. Enrique Lujan/Pablo Rujan ESP are the Champions 8 points ahead of Albert Torres/Franciso Mulet ESP. Balanger/Tallieu FRA on 4th clearly missed the Bronze Medal.
The Australian 1 and 2 victory in the 420 Girls was firm before the last race, but the fight for the title was still open and the outcome the closest possible. Laura Harding/Eleanor Grimshaw AUS almost replaced the leading Nia Jerwood/Monique De Vries AUS on top in the last race, but they remained on rank 2 at equal points with the Champions. Arianna Passamonti/Giulia Fava ITA moved up on rank 3.
In the U17-classification, Martín Wizner/Pedro Ameneiro ESP advanced on rank 1 ahead of Tommaso Cilli/Bruno Mantero ITA and Demetrio Sposato/Gabriele Centrano ITA.

 420 - World Championship 2017 - Fremantle AUS - Day 5 Moderate winds prevailed yesterday in Fremantle after the windy first days at the 420 World Championship, but the Spanish teams dominated also in these conditions.
On the last day of the Championship, the first race of the Open (Boys') fleet was already completed this morning UTC and the Spanish teams will most probably end up with a full podium. Open is only who of the trio will grasp the title: Enrique Lujan/Pablo Lujan ESP took the lead this morning 2 points ahead of Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP. Another 4 points back are Albert Torres/ Francisco Mulet ESP and they too have still an option on the title.
In the Girls ranking, an Australian trio is on the top ranks. Nia Jerwood/Monique De Vries AUS 4 points ahead and Laura Harding/Eleanor Grimshaw AUS will duel for the title in the last race today, as Sophie McIntosh/ Orla Mulholland AUS on 3rd are over 40 points behind.
The most exciting final race will be held in the U17-classifications where four teams are separated by 2 points only. Demetrio Sposato/Gabriele Centrone ITA are one point ahead of Martín Wizner/ Pedro Ameneiro ESP and Pol Marsans/Alex Marsans ESP.

 420 - World Championship 2017 - Fremantle AUS - Day 4 20-24kn wind prevailed again on the 4th day of the 420 World Championship in Fremantle in South Australia and two races were held.
The Boys' (Open) fleet sailed the first Final races split in a Gold- and Silverfleet. Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP, European Champions 2017, are in the lead 3 points ahead of Albert Torres/Francisco Mulet ESP. Chris Charlwood/Josh Dawson AUS dropped on rank 3 at equal points with the day's best (1/2) Thomas André/Justin Baradat FRA on rank 4.
No change in the Girls' fleet with Nia Jerwood/Monique De Vries AUS on top 4 points ahead of Laura Harding/Eleanor Grimshaw AUS. Maria Caba/Pilar Caba ESP stay on the 3rd place.
A leader change occurred in the U17-rankings, where the best of the day Tommaso Cilli/Bruno Mantero ITA took the lead one point ahead of Pol Marsans/Alex Marsans ESP.

 420 - World Championship 2017 - Fremantle AUS - Day 3 On day 3 of the 420 World Championship in Fremantle AUS, the fresh wind exceeding 20kn and peaks of 25kn was back again, and the big-breeze specialists defended their leading positions.
In the Boys' (Open) rankings, Chris Charlwood/Josh Dawson AUS remained on top but the best of the day Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP reduced the backlog on one point. Edoardo Ferraro/Francesco Orlando ITA stay on rank 3.
With two race wins, Nia Jerwood/Monique De Vries AUS extended her lead in the Girls' fleet on 5 points. Laura Harding/Eleanor Grimshaw AUS and Maria Caba/Pilar Caba ESP keep their ranks 2 and 3.
In the U17-classifications, the first race of the day has already been completed.The leading Florian Büscher/Maximilian Büscher GER finished only 13th and lost their position to Pol Marsans/Alex Marsans ESP who have only a one point advantage on Tommaso Cilli/Bruno Mantero ITA.

 420 - World Championship 2017 - Fremantle AUS - Day 2 The 'Fremantle Doctor' was less strong - 16 to 18kn - on the second day of the 420 World Championship with all fleets completing two races. Racing is already on this morning UTC and the first heats of the day are in the books.
First in the Boys' Open rankings are Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP and Edoardo Ferraro/Francesco Orlando ITA at equal points on top. Chris Charlwood/Josh Dawson AUS follow one points back on 3rd. In the Girls, the ranks 1 and 2 belong to the Aussie teams Nia Jerwood/Monique De Vries AUS and 4 points behind Laura Harding/Eleanor Grimshaw AUS. On rank 3 follow María Caba/Pilar Caba ESP. In the U17-rankings, Florian Büscher/Maximilian Büscher GER remain on rank 1 with 3 points' advantage on Demetrio Sposato/Gabriele Centrone ITA on 2nd.

 420 - World Championship 2017 - Fremantle AUS - Day 2 The 420 World Championship began in Western Australia yesterday in fresh winds around 20kn. The U17 fleet and the Girls completed two races each, the Open fleet only one heat. The second one had to be abandonded because of a drifting buoy.
Enrique and Pablo Lujan ESP and Chris Cherwood/Josh Dawson AUS were the winners in the Boys' fleet, split in two groups. Balanger/ Tallieu FRA and Ferrer/De Maqua ESP followed at equal points on rank 3.
Nia Jerwod/Monique De Vries AUS finished first in both races of the Girls ahead of Laura Harding/Eleanor Grimshaw AUS on 2nd.
In the U17 rankings, Florian Buscher/Martin Buscher GER dominated with two race wins. Salvetta/Sarini ITA followed on rank 2 with a 3 points' backlog.
