 Laser Standard - World Championship 2020 - Sandringham AUS - Philipp Buhl GER World Champion, Charlie Buckingham USA clinches Olymipia ticket The final three windy races at the Laser Standard Worlds in Sandringham AUS this Sunday morning UTC made the difference in the US Trials in favor of Charlie Buckingham (Newport Beach YC) over his team mate Chris Barnard (Newport Beach YC), ranks 33/38/18, who finished on the 30th place. Robert Davis CAN remained on rank 40.--------------- With three top-10 results on the final day, extending his overall lead on 12 points, Philipp Buhl GER is the superior 2020 Laser World Champion, the first Laser Worlds title for Germany in a class, dominated so far by AUS and GBR sailors. Matthew Wearn AUS follows on 2nd, Tonci Stipanovic CRO on 3rd. The Australian Olympic participant Matthew Wearn AUS follows on 3rd. ----- Chris Barnard USA on rank 24 has now a solid 23 point lead over Charlie Buckingham USA on 31st.  Laser Standard - World Championship 2020 - Sandringham AUS - Day 4 Passing thunderstorms impeded racing at the Laser Worlds in Sandringham AUS this Friday morning UTC and the first Final Series races of the Gold-, Silver- and Bronzefleets were postponed to tomorrow Saturday. After the Qualification phase, Philipp Buhl GER is leading 2 points ahead of Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA.  Laser Standard - World Championship 2020 - Sandringham AUS - Day 2, medium results of North Americans With the seabreeze filling in late in Melbourne today Wednesday, two races have been held in all three groups. ----- Winning both heats, Philipp Buhl GER and Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA have jointly taken the overall lead ahead of Tonci Stipanovic CRO and Finn Alexander AUS 2 points behind on the ranks 3 and 4. Only minor improvements with the North Americans: Charlie Buckingham USA is 18th, Chris Barnard USA 27th. Robert Davis CAN follows as 32nd. ----- Tomorrow, two more qualification races are on the program to select the 42 best for the Goldfleet.  Laser Standard - World Championship 2020 - Sandringham AUS - Day 1, with 137 participants from 45 nations Finishing on the ranks 1 and 2 in their groups, Finn Alexander AUS and Tonci Stipanovic CRO have taken the lead after two races sailed at the Laser World Championship in Sandringham AUS this morning UTC. On rank 3 follows Philipp Buhl GER. Pavlos Kontides CYP and Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA occupy the ranks 4 and 5. Charlie Buckingham USA is 20th, Chris Barnard USA 27th. Among the participants are five Olympic medalists with the Laser legend Robert Scheidt BRA or the defending World Champion, World Ranking nbr 1 and Olympic Champion Tom Burton AUS, who lost the Australian selection for Tokyo 2020 against Matthew Wearn AUS.
