49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - Olympic Qualifier Europe - Lanzarote ESP - Final results, Stephanie Roble/Margaret Shea 8th

Stephanie Roble/Margaret Shea (KR/LBYC/CYC) finished the Lanzarote International on rank 8, having kept the pace of the top 49erFX teams in most races, a promise for the Olympics. However, they could not be happy about the last day with rank 23 in race 16, and in spite of a good 5th place in the Medal Race, their hopes for the podium were gone. ----- No other North American teams participated in the Medal Races. ----- The final rankings of the 49ers did not really change after the last race yesterday with Andrew Mollerus/Ian MacDiarmid (LYC) in 13th, Nevin Snow/Dane Wilson (SDYC/MBYC), 19th, Ian Barrows/Hans Henken (EYC/SFYC), 21st, and Harry Melges/Finn Rowe (US Sailing), 23rd. William Jones/Evan Depaul CAN (Royal Hamilton YC), who left the competition after the Qualification phase, are in 39th. ----- The two Canadian teams in the 49ersFX finished the event on the ranks 24 (Georgia and Antonia Lewin-Lafrance (RNSYS/CYC)) and 32 (Ali TenHove/Mariah Millen (RCYC/KYC)). ----- To be noted that the best-ranked US teams Roble/Shea and Mollerus/MacDiamid have been training with the best on the Canaries since January ..... ----- The Results of all eight North American Teams -------------------- Here the summary of the final results in all three classes: ----- With a final race and the Medal Races, the European and African Qualifiers for the last Olympic berths came to an end yesterday with Ireland in the 49ers, Belgium in the 49ersFX and Finland in the Nacras 17 qualified. Tunisia will represent Africa in the Nacra 17. ----- Already before the Medal Race, Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP were the superior winners in the 49ers. Jonas Warrer/Jakob Precht DEN are 39 points behind in 2nd place. With a win in the Medal Race, Robert Dickson/Sean Waddilove IRL secured the bronze medal and the Olympic starting place for Ireland. ----- In the 49ersFX, Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA won clearly 23 points ahead of Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED in second place. Thanks to the victory in the Medal Race, Tamara Echegoyen/Paula Barcelo ESP earned the bronze medal. The ranks 14/16/6 in the 49ersFX yesterday were not good enough for Stephanie Roble/Margaret Shea (KR/LBYC/CYC) to remain on the podium, but with rank 6 overall, a 15 point backlog on rank 3, and up to 3 qualification races planned this morning UTC, their chances are intact to come back in the Medal Race scheduled for 12h. The Canadian teams Georgia and Antonia Lewin-Lafrance (RNSYS/CYC), as well as Ali TenHove/Mariah Millen (RCYC/KYC), remain in the 24th and 32nd places. ----- Only minor changes in the rankings of the four USA 49ers with Andrew Mollerus/Ian MacDiarmid (LYC) in 14th, followed by Nevin Snow/Dane Wilson (SDYC/MBYC), 19th, Ian Barrows/Hans Henken (EYC/SFYC), 21st, and Harry Melges/Finn Rowe (US Sailing), 22nd. 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - Winter Series - Lanzarote ESP - Day 4 - Roble/Shea 4th on track for a medal

Yesterday, the Final Series started on Lanzarote with three races held for the first time in moderate conditions with flat waters. ----- The 49er team Andrew Mollerus/Ian MacDiarmid (LYC) stayed on rank 11 as the best USA team. Nevin Snow/Dane Wilson (SDYC/MBYC) were by far the most successful of the remaining US trio advancing from 21st to 13th. Moving in the opposite direction were Harry Melges/Finn Rowe (US Sailing) dropping from 13th to 22nd. Ian Barrows/Hans Henke (EYC/SFYC) kept rank 20. William Jones/Evan Depaul, Royal Hamilton YC, CAN did not race yesterday and are ranked 10th in the Silver Fleet (=35th overall). ----- The 49erFX women Stephanie Roble/Margaret Shea (KR/LBYC/CYC) defended rank 4 now tied with the 3rd-ranked Ida Baad-Nielsen/Marie Thusgaard DEN, only 4 points behind rank 2. Georgia and Antonia Lewin-Lafrance CAN (RNSYS/CYC) descended on rank 25. A brilliant day for Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea, KR/LBYC/CYC, USA, day ranks 5/2/1, moving 7 places up on rank 5 in the 49ersFX. ----- Slight improvements of the USA 49ers with Ian Barrows/Hans Henken, EYC/SFYC, USA, holding rank 7, while the only Canadian team William Jones/Evan Depaul, Royal Hamilton YC, CAN lost 7 ranks and are down on 24th. ----- The results of all eight North American teams. --------------------- Again, 3 races were sailed, with the favorite teams advancing. ----- Fletcher/Bithell GBR took the lead in the 49ers, only one point ahead of Warrer/Precht DEN, the team of yesterday with the ranks 1/2/1. Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP follow on rank 3. ----- In the 49ersFX, Helen Naess/Marie Rönningen NOR are in the lead. The Olympic Champions Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA were the best of the day and moved up to second.
