Mini 650 - Mini Transat - Guadeloupe FRA - Leg 2 - Final Day
The Mini-Transat 2021 came to an end yesterday with the arrival of Paul Meilhat FRA in 62nd place. The 67-year-old Frenchman had already taken part for the first time in 1993, but was eliminated at that time due to a broken mast. Now he has finally completed his Atlantic crossing. ----- The report.

The Mini Transat 2021 is slowly coming to an end: 3 Protos and 21 Series Minis are still in the race. With 60 miles to go, Matteo Sericano ITA and Marc-Eric Siewert GER are having an even duel within sight of each other for 20th place. In the Series Minis, Christian Kargl AUT, Lennart Burke GER and Melwin Fink GER reached the finish in 19th-21st place within 2 hours yesterday. Yesterday, the top of the Series Minis also reached the finish on Guadeloupe with the first 15 arriving almost every hour. Yesterday afternoon UTC, 19-year-old Melvin Fink GER scored a big coup with his victory in the fleet of the Mini650 Series ! He was the only one who stayed at sea after the storm warning of the race management and mastered the up to 40kn wind without any problems. After 10 days of racing, he reached the finish line with a big lead and has put himself ahead in the race for the overall victory. Christian Kargl AUT will finish in 2nd place this afternoon, with 50 miles to go. In the Protos classification, the battle for 5th place will not be decided until tomorrow. While the top quartet of Protos managed to round Cape Finisterre yesterday and pull away with rear winds, the remaining 85 competitors were left in a lull. Today, a strong front from the west with around 50kn will reach the fleet, prompting the participants to head for a sheltering harbour - the report. ----- Story of the day was the attack of an orca on Gaël Ledoux FRA, leading in the series minis. Since 2020, more than 200 whale attacks on sailing yachts have been recorded in the area.
