 Mini 650 - Mini Transat - Santa Cruz de la Palma ESP - Leg 1 - Day 11 - Victory for Melvin Fink GER Yesterday afternoon UTC, 19-year-old Melvin Fink GER scored a big coup with his victory in the fleet of the Mini650 Series ! He was the only one who stayed at sea after the storm warning of the race management and mastered the up to 40kn wind without any problems. After 10 days of racing, he reached the finish line with a big lead and has put himself ahead in the race for the overall victory. While the top quartet of Protos managed to round Cape Finisterre yesterday and pull away with rear winds, the remaining 85 competitors were left in a lull. Today, a strong front from the west with around 50kn will reach the fleet, prompting the participants to head for a sheltering harbour - the report. ----- Story of the day was the attack of an orca on Gaël Ledoux FRA, leading in the series minis. Since 2020, more than 200 whale attacks on sailing yachts have been recorded in the area.
