ILCA 6 & 7 - Master European Championship - L'Escala ESP - Final results

The ILCA Masters European Championships came to an end yesterday with two races in moderate winds between 9-12kn. ----- In ILCA 7, Matej Valic CRO took the Apprentice win (35 ), Peter Hurley GBR won the Masters classification (45 ), best Grand Master ( 55) is José-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP and in the Great Grand Master classification (65), José-Luis Doreste ESP took the title. Patrick Fleischhacker SUI is in 21st place in the ILCA Masters fleet and Mauro Lentini SUI finished in 6th place in the Great Grand Masters. Markus Ochs SUI follows in 20th place in the Grand Masters classification, and Beat Heinz SUI was 31st. ----- In ILCA 6, the titles go to Alfredo Gomez ESP (Apprentice), Jean-Christophe Leydet FRA (Masters), Gilles Coadou FRA (Grand Masters), Jeff Loosemore AUS (Great Grand Masters) and to Peter Heywood AUS (Legends, 75+). Jean-Luc Dreyer SUI was 5th in the Great Grand Masters ranking, Thomas Gyr SUI follows in 9th place. ----- All rankings and the final-report.

ILCA 6 & 7 - Master European Championship - L'Escala ESP - Day 4

The seabreeze filled in again in Escala yesterday and two more races could be sailed in a 12-15kn wind. ----- In the ILCA 7 Apprentice, Master and Great Grand Master classifications, Matej Valic CRO was again the best of the day with a 1st and 2nd place, and leads by 11 points over Peter Hurley GBR before today's final heats. Patrick Fleischhacker SUI improved to 22nd place. ----- In the ILCA 7 Grand Masters, José-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP is still leading. Tomas Nordquist SWE moved up to 2nd place. Markus Ochs SUI is now 22nd. Beat Heinz SUI follows in 30th. ----- In the ILCA 6 Apprentice and Master fleet, Xavi Tous ESP has maintained his lead. ----- In the Grandmasters ranking, Gilles Coadou FRA is now already 24 points ahead. ----- Jeff Loosemore AUS extended his lead in the Great Grand Masters and Legends to 6 points. ILCA 6 & 7 - Master European Championship - L'Escala ESP - Day 3

Moderate winds between 8 and 12kn at the Masters European Championships on the Costa Brava yesterday, and again 2 races each were sailed. ----- In the ILCA 7 fleet (Apprentice, Master and Great Grand Master), Matje Valic SLO (A) held on to the lead despite an early start. Peter Hurley USA (M) and José-Luis Doreste ESP (GGM) are the first pursuers. Patrick Fleischhacker SUI improved to 25th position. ----- In the ILCA-7-Grand Masters, José-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP is now leading 6 points ahead of Bertrand Blanchet FRA. Markus Ochs SUI moved up to 23rd place thanks to the 8th and 9th places of the day. Beat Heinz SUI is 32nd of the 63 participants. ----- In the ILCA 6 of the Apprentice and Masters, Xavier Tous ESP now leads by 6 points over Alfredo Gomez ESP. ----- In the ILCA-6-Grand-Master fleet, Gilles Coadou FRA is 10 points ahead of Luigi Santocanale FRA. Leader change in the ILC-6-Great Grand Master and Legends: Jeff Losmore US is now 2 points ahead of Max Hunt GB with Miguel Noguer ESP still in 3rd. Lorenz Müller SUI was among the best of the day with the ranks 4/8/7 and moved up to 8th. Jean-Luc Dreyer SUI is 11th. ILCA 6 & 7 - Master European Championship - L'Escala ESP - Day 2

Moderate conditions with around 8 knots of wind prevailed on the second day of the Masters European Championships, and two races were sailed in each of the fleets. ----- Matej Valic SLO won twice in the ILCA 7 (Apprentice, Master, Great Grand Master) and pulled away at the top. Dimitrios Theodorakis GRE is still 2nd, followed by Peter Hurley USA in 3rd. Patrick Feischhacker SUI is still 26th. ----- In the ILCA 7 Grand Master ranking, José-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP is in the lead ahead of Allen Clark CAN and Andrew Roy CAN. Markus Ochs SUI is 26th, Beat Heinz SUI follows as 31st. ----- In the ILCA 6 Apprentice and Master ranking, Xavi Tous ESP is one point ahead of Alfonso Gomez ESP. ----- Gilles Coadou FRA continues to lead the ILCA 6 Grand Masters. ----- Max Hurst GBR is on top of the Great Grand Masters, and Jeff Loosemore AUS follows 2 points behind in 2nd. Jean-Luc Dreyer SUI improved to 7th. Thomas Gyr SUI, one of the day's best yesterday with 3rd and 6th place, moved up to 10th, with Lorenz Müller SUI right behind in 11th. ----- All rankings and the daily-report.

ILCA 6 & 7 - Master European Championship - L'Escala ESP - Day 1

In moderate conditions with 10-12 knots of wind, the European Championship of the ILCA Masters began yesterday on the Costa Brava with two races. The 9 age groups were divided into 5 fleets. The celebrities mostly lived up to their favourite roles: In the ILCA 7, Apprentice (35-45), Master (45-55) and Great Grand Master (65-75) sail in one fleet, Matej Valic SLO (AM) leads ahead of Dimitrios Theodorakis GRE (M). Olympic Champion 1988 José-Luis Doreste ESP (GGM) follows on rank 4. Wolfgang Gerz GER is the best German in 18th place. Patrick Fleischacker SUI is 26th, Mauro Lentini SUI follows on rank 40 of the 58 participants. The ILCA-7 Grandmasters (55-65) are the largest fleet with 67 participants, José-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP (Olympic Gold 92) is leading ahead of Tomas Nordquist SWE. Markus Ochs SUI and Beat Hein follow in 28th and 29th place. In the ILCA 6, Xavi Tous ESP leads the Apprentice and Masters fleet. Gilles Coadou FRA won both races of the Grand Masters, Miguel Noguer ESP (Olympic Gold 1980) leads the fleet of the Great Grand Masters and Legends. Jean-Luc Dreyer SUI is a good 6th, Lorenz Müller SUI follows in 12th place of the 40 participants. All rankings and the daily report.
