Sunday, May 18, 2025
After four consecutive days of calm and dense fog, sailing was finally possible on the last two days of the ILCA World Championships in Qingdao. Strong winds of over 20 knots and rough seas were a real challenge for the participants in the 6 women's and 5 men's regattas. ----- Louise Cervera FRA was the deserved winner of the ILCA 6 women, the only one with 6 top-10 results, 6 points ahead of Agata Barwinska POL and Eve McMahon IRL tied on points. Matilde Nicholls GBR finished 4th, Charlotte Rose USA 8th. Anja Von Allmen SUI was tied with the eventual silver medal winner before the final run, but the Polish won this crucial race while Anja finished as 21st, which made the difference. However, the young Swiss' 11th place in difficult conditions is a promising result for the future. On the last day, Maud Jayet SUI improved by 6 places to 17th, while Rosine Baudet SUI paid the price and dropped back to 50th among the 99 participants. The results women ILCA 6. ----- Ranks 1 to 6 in the ILCA 7 men were separated by just 3 points at the end. The leaders before the last day fell off the podium.
