Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 3

Again seven US Sailing Team members in the top-10 (+ 2) of the Trofeo Princesa Sofia after yesterday's races, i.e. in the 49ersFX, the Lasers Standard and Radial and ... surprise ... the RS:X windsurfers, replacing the 49er and Nacra teams.

Both USA Laser Standard helmsmen remained in the top-10. The Goldfleet ranks made the difference yesterday with Christopher Barnard finishing 6 and 6 moving up on the excellent 3rd, and Charlie Buckingham with 32 and 20 leaving him on 8th.
Similar situation in the Lasers Radial. Erika Reineke USA advanced on rank 3 as well with the day ranks 6 and 9, while Paige Railey USA is on 8th with a race win and a retired race.
In the 49ersFX, Paris Henken/Anna Tunnicliffe Tobias are back in the top-10 (rank 9) with a 3rd and 7th place as well as an early start disqualification. Stephanie Roble/Margaret Shea USA however could not keep the pace of the best and with three times 17th, they are down on 16th overall.
The positive surprise of the day are the 10th overall positions in the RS:X windsurfers of Farrah Hall (women) and Pedro Pascal Suitt (men).
A premature start and the ranks 3 and 10 were not good enough for Andrew Mollerus/Ian MacDiarmid USA to keep the top-10 place. Down on rank 12 with a 3-point deficit on the rank 10 cut, they have a good chance to reach the Medal Race.
Also 3 points behind a Medal Race position are Riley Gibbs/Anna Weiss USA as 11th in the Nacra-17 after a premature start disqualification and the ranks 19 and 5 yesterday.

Yesterday, sailing on Palma Bay continued in most classes with the Final Series split in Gold- and Silverfleets, and the seabreeze was somewhat stronger (12-14kn) as during the previous days.
In the 470 men, Dahlberg/Bergström SWE have taken the lead 2 points ahead of Bargehr/Mähr AUT on 2nd. Patience/Grube GBR moved up on rank 3. No change in the 470 women with Lecointre/Retornaz FRA keeping rank 1, but the backlog of Mills/McIntyre GBR is only one point. New on rank 3 are Wei/Gao CHN. With two race wins, Wanser/Wanser GER on 4th are only one point behind the podium.
The 49ers terminated their Qualification Series. Fletcher/Bithell GBR remained on top with the best of the day Lange/Lange ARG new on rank 2. Bildstein/Hussl AUT advanced on rank 3. In the 49ersFX, Dobson/Tidey GBR defended their first place with the day ranks 2/1/1. Grael/Kunze BRA on 2nd follow 4 points back.
In the Finns, the training partners Andy Maloney NZL and Josh Junior NZL are now on top, followed by Facundo Oleazza ARG up on rank 3.
In the Nacras, Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS have taken the lead ahead of John Gimson/Anna Burnett GBR new on 2nd.
In the RS:X men windsurfers, Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI is now the sole leader 5 points ahead of Hao Chen CHN. In the RS:X women, Yue Tan CHN is one point ahead of Hei Man Chan HKG.
Herrmann Tomasgaard NOR remains on top of the huge Laser Standard fleet, split in four groups. Lorenzo Chiavarini GBR is new on the 2nd place, Christopher Barnard USA up on 3rd.
Anne-Marie Rindom DEN continues with her domination in the Lasers Radial, and her advantage on Emma Plaesschart BEL is now already 17 points. Erika Reineke USA moved up on rank 3, the Olympic Champion Marit Bouwmeester NED is 4th.
