Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 5

The favorable sailing conditions on Palma Bay permitted to terminate the Final Series with another two or three races per class yesterday with the 10 best qualified for the Medal Races today. In three of the ten events, the winners are already known.
Anton Dahlberg/Frederik Bergström SWE have 25-point advantage in the 470 men and cannot be overtaken. The ranks 2 (Patience/Grube GBR) to 5 (Belcher/Ryan AUS) however are separated by 10 points only.
In the 49ers , Dylan Fletcher/Stuart Bithell GBR are the premature winners with a 24-point lead over Botin/Rodriguez ESP on a safe 2nd place 10 points in front of a closely packed group fighting for Bronze.
Yue Tan CHN is the winner in the RS:X women windsurfers , and Hei Man Chan HKG has the Silver Medal on the table. Lärke Buhl-Hansen DEN follows on 3rd.
Almost thru are Hanna Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR in the 470 women as they start to the Medal Race with a 13-point lead on Lecointre/Retornaz FRA on 2nd, who are 5 points in front of Mrak/Macarol SLO on 3rd.
Another safe leader are Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA in the 49ersFX 17 points ahead of Maloney/Meech NZL and a point behind Dobson/Tidey GBR, duelling for Silver and Bronze.
In the Finns , Andrew Maloney NZL and Giles Scott GBR 6 points back will fight for the title. Josh Junior NZL on rank 3 has a big advance on the rest of the fleet.
In the Nacras 17, the leading Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS are clearly on top 14 points ahead of Bisarro/Frascari ITA, closely followed by Gimson/Burnett GBR one point back on 3rd.
The RS:X men windsurfers Michael Cheng HKG and 3 points behind Hao Chen CHN will duel for Gold today. Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI is on a safe 3rd place.
The Laser Final Series were concluded yesterday with two more races sailed in a 12-14kn breeze to select the 10 best for today's Medal Races.
In the Lasers Standard, Chris Barnard USA starts to the last race today with a 12-point lead on Eliot Hanson GBR on 2nd, who has an 8 points' advance on Nick Thompson GBR. The ranks 3 to 7 are separated by 3 points only. Not qualified are among others Robert Scheidt BRA (rank 12), Tonci Stipanovic CRO (rank 15) and the World Champion Pavlos Kontides CYP (rank 25).
The previously big advantage of Anne-Marie Rindom DEN in the Lasers Radial has melted on 4 points. Erika Reineke USA is up on rank 2 followed by Tuula Tenkanen FIN 2 points back. Another 2 points behind is Marit Bouwmeester NED as a hot candidate for a Medal.
