IMOCA Open 60 - Vendée Globe - Les Sables d'Olonne - Day 117/Final Day
Friday, March 5, 2021
This morning at 7h am CET, Ari Huusela FIN with his Open 60 'Stark' crossed the finish line of the Vendée Globe 20/21 in 25th as the last of the 33 participants originally in the race. This is the end of a race of superlatives: never before were so many nations at the start, the women made up almost 20% of the fleet, for the first time in the history of the race the decision was made only shortly before the finish line and the worldwide media echo even surpassed the Tour de France of the cyclists or the tennis tournament Roland Garros. In 4 years, the round-the-world race, the longest, most versatile, and toughest competition of all sports will probably attract even more participants, hopefully also from the Americas and Oceania. ----- First reports on Ari Huusela FIN's finish will be available soon on the event website.
