49er, 49erFX - World Championship 2024 - Lanzarote ESP - Day 5

Sunday, March 10, 2024
In the windiest conditions so far with around 20 knots and big waves, the qualifications for the Medal Races continued yesterday. Today, there is one last qualification regatta and the Medal Race on the program. ----- In the 49ers, Erwan Fischer/Clément Péquin FRA can already grasp the World Championship title before the Medal Race. After yesterday's races, they already have a 30-point lead over the second-placed title defenders Bart Lambriex/Floris Van de Werken NED - it would be the first French World Championship victory in the history of the class! 7 points behind the Dutchmen are Diego Botin/Florian Trittel ESP. Sébastien Schneiter/Arno De Planta SUI are now 7th, 27 points behind a medal. Joshua Richner/Nilo Schärer SUI follow in 47th place in the Silverfleet. ----- The 49ersFX also seem to have been decided: The title defenders Odile Van Aanholt/Anette Duetz NED lead by 25 points ahead of Vilma Bobeck/Rebecca Netzler SWE. The Swedes dominated the day with two races wins, but had to accept their discard result in the last race after capsizing. Ranks 3-6 are only 7 points apart. ----- The daily report and the rankings.
