Moth World Championship 2016 Hayama JPN Day 2, Diaz de Leon USA 8th
The Moth World Championship 2016 in Japan continued yesterday in a 20 kn breeze and big waves, too rough conditions for a third of the competitors caring also for their tiny, fragile skiffs. The elite drivers however presented an exciting spectacle. Man of the day was Chris Rashley GBR moving up on top with the ranks 1/1/2. Paul Goodison GBR on 2nd only one point behind remains in the figh for the title. Scott Babbage AUS advanced on rank 3 with a 6 points' backlog. Robert Greenalgh GBR, leader after day one, was forced to omit the first two races of the day due to equipment failure, but he came back with a race win in the last race. Victor Diaz de Leon USA is 8th, Bran Funk USA 39th and Andrew Brazier CAN 47th among the 66 participants from 11 nations.
The results and the daily news. The video of the day was not yet available, but a video interview with a prominent spectator - Russell Coutts NZL - has been posted.
