18 Footer - JJ Giltinan Trophy - Sydney AUS - Final results
Monday, March 12, 2018
About the outcome and the winners of the 18-Footer World Championship in Sydney we reported yesterday. For the first time in the 80-year's history of JJ Giltinan, the victory went New Zealand crew. The experienced team David McDiarmid/Matt Steven/Brad Collins NZL could narrowly claim rank 1 after the final race. Only a few points back in second was the surprise team 'Maersk' helmed by 49er-crack Josh Porebski NZL (Nr.11 of the 49er world rankings) and his team. They started sailing on an 18-footer only a couple of weeks prior to the first race! Relay Gibbs USA and his 'Harken' team finished in 6th overall.
