World Sailing - Midyear Meeting - London GBR - a personal comment

Let's assume the IOC decided now to eliminate sailing from the 2024 Olympic Sports? This slapstick comedy in London would be ended immediately, because there is no need at all to overturn the sport from the top ! Good boats, good class organisations, and above sailors loving their sport (including the Kiters) would influence how top performance sailing would look like, and this within the framework of Racing and Equipment Rules, and a coordinated Events structure ... as was the idea when IYRU was founded in 1906.
Did anybody imagine, how these in vitro events would look like around the world outside of the Games? In your country, your region .. in your club? Just non-existent! The targeted “growing global audience” is an absolute illusion.
There is no rationale at all for such a dramatic change in Olympic events !
