IMOCA Open 60 - Retour à La Base - Martinique-Lorient FRA - Day 5 - New 24 hour record

Ideal conditions with fresh westerly winds and flat seas ensure high speeds: Thomas Ruyant FRA set a new 24-hour IMOCA record yesterday with his 'For People' with 539.86 miles, an average speed of 22.5 knots (around 40 km/h). Further improvements are certainly possible over the next few days. The fleet is expected to cross the finish line on Saturday. The order at the top has not changed: Yoann Richhomme FRA leads with his 'Arkea-Paprec' with a 20-mile lead over Sam Goodchild GBR ('For the planet'), and a further 7 miles behind Jérémy Béyou FRA ('Charal') in 3rd.
