 470 - World Championship 2024 - El Arenal ESP - Final results - Gold for Xammar/Brugman ESP Fresh winds over 30 knots and big waves prevented the medal race yesterday. ----- As a result, Jordi Xammar/Nora Brugman ESP won their first World Championship title. Silver and bronze go to Vita Heathcote/Chris Grube GBR and Keiju Okada/Miho Yoshioka JPN. Simon Diesch/Anna Markfort GER in 4th place miss the podium by 3 points. Fresh southerly winds around 20 knots and big waves ensured a spectacular regatta day on Palma Bay yesterday, and a shake-up in the classification. ----- While the Japanese teams struggled, Jordi Xammar/Nora Brugman ESP took the lead and go into today's Medal Race with an 11-point lead. New in second place are Vita Heathcote/Chris Grube GBR, while Keiju Okada/Miho Yoshioka JPN have dropped back to third place and, with a 16-point deficit, are unlikely to have any chance of successfully defending their title. Simon Diesch/Anna Markfort GER are 4th, 3 points behind a medal. Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI finish the World Championships in 20th place. ----- The ranking list and the daily report.

Fresh winds around 15 knots prevailed yesterday for the two races of the day. ----- Simon Diesch/Anna Markfort GER dominated with two race wins and moved up to 2nd place, 4 points behind the still leading Tetsuya Isozaki/Yurie Seki JPN.  470 - World Championship 2024 - El Arenal ESP - Day 3 After two days of rain, the final regattas in Gold and Silverfleet started with sunshine for the first time. Two races were sailed in light winds. Tetsuya Isozaki/Yurie Seki JPN continue to lead with a 4-point advantage over Keiju Okada/Miho Yoshioka JPN. Now in 3rd place are Jordi Xammar/Nora Brugman ESP.  470 - World Championship 2024 - El Arenal ESP - Day 2 The inconsistent offshore northerly winds continued to characterise the action on the Bay of Palma yesterday. The qualifications for the final regattas in Gold and Silverfleet were completed with two races each. The Japanese, who are contesting their internal Olympic selection, continue to dominate: Tetsuya Isozaki/Yurie Seki JPN are still in the lead, now with a one-point advantage over the title defenders Keiju Okada/Miho Yoshioka JPN. Simon Diesch/Anna Markfort GER are a further point behind in third place. Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI had a harder time, dropping back to 21st place after two midfield finishes, but are still in the gold fleet. ----- The ranking list and the daily Report.

 470 - World Championship 2024 - El Arenal ESP - Day 1 The first 3 races of the World Championship were sailed yesterday in the Bay of Palma in rain and inconsistent offshore northerly winds of between 3 and 15 knots. The Japanese teams dominated: Tetsuya Isozaki/Yurie Seki JPN and Ai Yoshida/Yugo Yoshida JPN tied on top with a 1st and 2nd place in their respective groups. The defending champions Keiju Okada/Miho Yoshioka JPN follow in 5th place, with Simon Diesch/Anna Markfort GER clearly the best German team in 3rd place. After a tough first race (18th place), Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI turned things around with 4th and 5th places and are 12th of the 60 teams.  470 - World Championship 2024 - El Arenal ESP - Today Practice Race The 470 World Championship starts today with the training regatta in the Bay of Palma. As well as title honours, there are also other Olympic nation starting places at stake. At the start 64 teams from 27 nations and 5 continents, including Mocambique and Angola, who are competing for the African Olympic starting place. The strong German team will host the internal Olympic selection, with 6 teams competing. Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI will be representing Switzerland. The preview.
