470 - World Championship 2024 - El Arenal ESP - Day 1

The first 3 races of the World Championship were sailed yesterday in the Bay of Palma in rain and inconsistent offshore northerly winds of between 3 and 15 knots. The Japanese teams dominated: Tetsuya Isozaki/Yurie Seki JPN and Ai Yoshida/Yugo Yoshida JPN tied on top with a 1st and 2nd place in their respective groups. The defending champions Keiju Okada/Miho Yoshioka JPN follow in 5th place, with Simon Diesch/Anna Markfort GER clearly the best German team in 3rd place. After a tough first race (18th place), Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI turned things around with 4th and 5th places and are 12th of the 60 teams.
