49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - World Championship 2020 - Geelong AUS - Final results, Bronze Medal for Roble/Shea 49erFX

 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - World Championship 2020 - Geelong AUS - Final results, Bronze Medal for Roble/Shea 49erFX Bronze Medal and the Tokyo Olympic USA selection spot for Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea in the 49erFX ! Paris Henken/Anna Tobias opened the day with a bullet, but Roble/Shea came back strongly, rank 7 vs 12 of their opponents in the final fleetrace, and made everything clear winning the Medal Race. ----- In the Nacra-17, the excellent performance of Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis, ranks 8 and 2 on the last day, was not good enough to compensate for the big point lead of Sarah Newberry/David Liebenberg finishing 14th ahead of Gibbs/Weis on rank 17. However, confirmed by the US Sailing team update, the winners of the Olympic trials remain Gibbs/Weis. ----- In the 49ers, Andrew Mollerus/Ian MacDiarmid on rank 14 remain the best US team clearly ahead of the other US skiffs on the ranks 20, 21, 25 and 26. USA is not qualified for Olympic representation, but is first in line to claim a forfeited spot from other countries. ----- The Final Result of all North Americans. ------------------- Hereafter the Final Overall Top Results after two fleetraces and the Medal Races of the 49ers, 49ersFX and Nacras-17 at the World Championship in Geelong AUS this morning UTC. ----- In the 49ers, Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL winning the two final fleetraces had an 18 point lead before the Medal Race and earned the Worlds title with a relaxed ride finishing the Medal Race as 4th. Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP moved one place up on rank 2. The winners of the Medal Race, Erik Heil/Thomas Plössel GER, clinched Bronze. Bad luck for the long-time leaders Bildstein/Hussl AUT, who - after a bad start to the Medal Race - even dropped from the podium finishing 4th overall. ----- In the 49erFX, the tied Charlotte Dobson/Sakia Tidey GBR and Tamara Echegoyen/Paula Barcelo ESP delivered a close battle that was decided just before heading for the final downwind in favour of Echegoyen/Barcelo ESP. Winning the Medal Race, Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea USA moved up on rank 3, grasping the USA Olympic selection over Paris Henken/Anna Tobias-Tunnicliffe USA. ----- In the Nacra 17, the clearly leading Nathan Outteridge/Haylee Outteridge AUS lost rank one after a collision during the start of the Medal Race.  49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - World Championship 2020 - Geelong AUS - Day 5, only 49er Goldfleet racing, no changes in USA rankings, two fleetraces and the medal races planned for tomorrow Due to summer storms that wreaked havoc with the breeze, only the 49er Goldfleet completed a race at the Worlds in Geelong AUS this Friday morning UTC with Benjamin Bildstein/David Hussl AUT defending their lead just one point ahead of Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL. Winners of the day were Heil/Plössel GER advancing on rank 4 overall. Ranks 13, 18, 21 and 23 by the four USA teams sailing in the Goldfleet with Andrew Mollerus/Ian MacDiarmid as best with an 8 point backlog on the Medal Race of tomorrow after two more fleetraces scheduled. ----- A short report on the facebook page. ----- Not racing were the 49er Silver and Bronze fleets and the other two Olympic classes. ----.  49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - World Championship 2020 - Geelong AUS - Day 4, US Sailing Team top-10s in 49ersFX and Nacra-17 The Olympic selection duels for the superior US Sailing Team positions in the 49ersFX and Nacra-17s continued today Thursday morning UTC on Port Phillips Bay AUS with the teams swapping the places again. Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea on rank 7 passed Paris Henken/Anna Tobias - now 4 points behind on rank 10 - who could not repeat their stellar performance of the day before in the lighter winds of the day. ----- Major change also in the Nacra-17 with Sarah Newberry/David Liebenberg 7 ranks up on 10th while Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis had a disaster day loosing 3 places down on 18th with a 36 (!) point deficit on their team mates. ------ In the 49ers, the clearly best team among the four of five USA skiffs sailing in the Goldfleet were again Andrew Mollurus/Ian MacDiarmid on the 13th place overall. (No CAN skiffs in the Goldfleet.) ----- The updated Results of all North Americans. -------------- Hereafter an overview on the top-ranks in all three classes after three races held in light, shifting winds: ----- Three different winners in the Nacra-17 today with Lange/Caranzoli ARG, Majdalani/Bosco ARG and Farese/Zöchling AUT. New on top overall are Nathan and Haylee Outteridge AUS with a considerable 21 point advance on John Gimson/Anna Burnet GBR. Waterhouse/Darmanin AUS moved up on the 3rd place. ----- In the 49ersFX, the tight duel on top went on with Charlotte Dobson/Saskia Tidey GBR one point ahead of Tamara Echegoyen/Paula Barcelo ESP. Schütt/Nielsen DEN on rank 3 are already 21 points back. ----- The 49ers closing the day had a somewhat stronger up to 12kn breeze slackening towards the evening. Still surprising, Benjamin Bildstein/David Hussl AUT replaced the favorites Burling/Tuke NZL on top with a 2 point lead.  49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - World Championship 2020 - Geelong AUS - Day 3, Henken/Tobias 49erFX and Mollerus/McDiarmid 49er on 7th interim Today Wednesday, coming back very strongly after a failed first day were Paris Henken/Anna Tobias USA rushing on rank 7 overall in the 49ersFX as best of the day (1/4/1). Stefanie Roble/Maggie Shea USA follow 5 points behind on 8th. ----- Andrew Mollerus/Iain McDiarmid USA rank 8 overall defended their excellent place in the 49er top-10. With the good ranks 7/6/7 in their group, Ian Barrows/Mitchell Kiss USA jumped on rank 14 while Harry Melges/Finn Rowe USA had a mixed day dropping on rank 18. ----- Best NorAm Nacra 17 team are now Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis USA on the 15th place.  49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - World Championship 2020 - Geelong AUS - Day 2, three USA teams in top-tens Racing at the 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 Worlds downunder has already been completed this Tuesday morning UTC. ----- Excellent first day for the USA 49ers on the ranks 5 with Andrew Mollerus/Iain McDiarmid and 7 with Harry Melges/Finn Rowe, as well as the 49ersFX with Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea on 7th as well. Remarkable also the 11th place of Sarah Newberry/David Liebenberg in the Nacra 17. Here the updated Results of all North Americans. ---------- Surprises in the 49erFX where after three races, Tina Lutz/Lotta Wiemers GER are clearly leading with the day ranks 1/2/2 ahead of the tied Tess Lloyd/Jaime Ryan AUS and Tamara Echegoyen/Paula Barcelo ESP.  49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - Oceania Championship 2020 - Geelong AUS - Final results, Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis 1st Nacra, Paris Henken/Anna Tobias 4th 49erFX This morning UTC, the Oceania Championship of the Olympic Speed Classes was concluded on Port Philipp off Geelong AUS. ----- USA victory in the Nacras 17 with Riley Gibbs/Anna Weis USA climbing on top as best of the final day. Thomas Zajac/Barbara Matz AUT moved up on rank 2, while the long-time leaders John Gimson/Anna Burnett GBR dropped on rank 3. Sarah Newberry/David Liebenberg USA and Ravi Parent/Caroline Atwood USA follow on the ranks 21 and 22. ----- In the 49serFX, Tamara Echegoyen/Paula Barcelo ESP distanced Alexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL down on 2nd. Aleksandra Melzacka/Kinga Loboda POL finished 3rd. Exceptional again the performance of Paris Henken/Anna Tobias USA, climbing up 5 ranks on the 4th place overall only 4 points off the podium.
