Class 40 - Transat Jacques Vabre - Day 18

Class 40 - Transat Jacques Vabre - Day 18 Today in Fort-de-France, the decision will be made in Class 40. This morning's leaders Ambrogio Beccaria ITA/Nicolas Andrieu FRA were still 92 miles short of the finish. The duo consistently chose the southerly route in the trade winds and had sometimes fallen far behind. Now this strategy seems to be paying off. The first chasers are now coming from the north, led by Ian Lipinski POL/Antoine Carpentier FRA who are 36 miles behind. The previous leaders Xavier Macaire/Pierre Leboucher FRA have been slowed down on their middle course and dropped back to 5th place, 77 miles behind. This afternoon, the first ones will reach the finish. The race tracker and the reports.

The southern group, led by Ambrogio Beccaria/Nicolas Andrieu FRA (73 miles behind) has already slowed down to 6 knots. In view of the conditions, a decision will probably not be made until tomorrow.
